CIET BBA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between BBA (Professional) and other BBA specialisations at Chitkara University?
Ans. The BBA (Professional), now referred to as BBA (General) on the current Chitkara website, is a broad-based 3-year program covering core management disciplines such as marketing, finance, HR, and business strategy. Unlike specialised BBA programs (such as BBA in FinTech, BBA in Data Science and AI, or BBA in Logistics), the BBA (Professional/General) does not have a fixed specialisation from the start. Instead, students choose elective tracks in Semesters 5 and 6 from options like Digital Marketing, Sales and Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, or Business Analytics. This makes it a flexible choice for students who want a broad management foundation before deciding on a specific career path.
Ques. Is there any entrance exam required for BBA (Professional) admission at Chitkara University?
Ans. No national-level entrance exam such as CUET, IPMAT, or any other test is required for BBA (Professional) admission at Chitkara University. Admission is based on Class 12 marks (minimum 50% in any stream) and a personal interview conducted by the university. The interview is a key part of the selection process and assesses communication skills, general awareness, and motivation. Candidates are advised to prepare for the interview by brushing up on current affairs and basic business concepts.
Ques. Can I pursue the BBA (Professional) Honours degree, and what does it involve?
Ans. Yes, students who complete the standard 3-year BBA (Professional) program can opt to extend their studies by one additional year (two semesters) to earn an Honours degree. The 4th year offers three distinct tracks: Research (specialising in a specific area of business management), Advanced Majors (for students with 75% or above in the first six semesters, involving a dissertation project), and Internship (providing on-site experiential learning as per NEP 2020). The Honours degree enhances academic credentials and is particularly useful for students planning to pursue an MBA or research-oriented careers.
Ques. What kind of placements can BBA (Professional) students expect from Chitkara University?
Ans. Chitkara Business School has a strong placement record with recruiters from diverse sectors including FMCG, banking, IT, logistics, and consulting. Companies such as Amazon, Deloitte, HCL, HDFC, ICICI, Wipro, Airtel, Bajaj, and Maersk have recruited from the BBA program. The university provides structured placement support through its Career Advancement Services (CAS), which includes resume building, mock interviews, and corporate training. However, placement outcomes vary by individual performance, specialisation chosen, and market conditions.
Ques. What is the fee refund policy if I decide to withdraw after taking admission?
Ans. If you submit a withdrawal application before the commencement of the academic session, the fees paid are refunded in full with a deduction of only Rs. 1,000 towards processing charges. If the withdrawal application is made after classes have commenced, fees are refunded on a pro-rata basis (for the unused period) with a deduction of Rs. 1,000 towards processing charges. The refund is processed within 90 days of the commencement of the academic session if the application is submitted before the session starts. It is important to note that mid-course withdrawals require the student to deposit the balance years' fees before a No Objection Certificate or Migration Certificate is issued.
Ques. Is the BBA (Professional) at Chitkara University recognised and what are the career options after graduation?
Ans. Yes, the BBA (Professional) at Chitkara University is a UGC-recognised degree from a NAAC-accredited university.
