DYPCET B.Tech FAQs
Ques. How does the Maharashtra CAP process work for getting into DYPCET?
Ans. After qualifying MHT-CET or JEE Main, candidates register online at the CET Cell portal, fill an option form listing preferred colleges and branches, and receive a seat allotment. If allotted DYPCET, they report to the college, submit documents, and pay fees. Each round fills unallotted seats, so candidates with lower scores still have opportunities in later rounds. CAP Round 2 option form submission is currently open from 07 to 09 August 2026.
Ques. Which B.Tech branch at DYPCET has the highest MHT-CET cutoff percentile?
Ans. Based on 2025 CAP data, Computer Science and Engineering and AI and Machine Learning have the highest cutoffs at DYPCET, around 88 to 89 percentile in Round 1 for the General Open category. Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering have lower cutoffs, making them more accessible to candidates with moderate MHT-CET scores. Cutoffs shift each round, so monitor Round 2 and Round 3 allotments for updated data.
Ques. Who is eligible for DYPCET’s Lateral Entry B.Tech and how is it different from the regular program?
Ans. The Lateral Entry route is open to diploma holders from recognized polytechnic institutes who passed with a minimum of 45% marks. Lateral Entry students join directly in the second year of B.Tech, reducing the duration from four to three years. Total fees are INR 3,72,000 for three years, compared to INR 4,96,000 for the full four-year program. Admission is through MHT-CET Lateral Entry merit lists, which are separate from the regular B.Tech merit lists.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for students coming from outside Kolhapur?
Ans. Yes, DYPCET provides separate hostel facilities for male and female students at up to INR 40,000 per year. Students coming from outside Kolhapur can apply for hostel accommodation at the time of admission. Availability is limited and seat allotment is typically on a first-come, first-served basis after confirming B.Tech enrollment.
Ques. Which companies are the main campus recruiters for DYPCET B.Tech graduates?
Ans. The biggest campus recruiters at DYPCET in the 2026 placement cycle included Accenture, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, and Infosys. These are large IT service firms that primarily recruit from CSE, AI and ML, and Data Sciences branches. The average package was INR 5.2 LPA and the highest was INR 8.5 LPA. Students targeting core engineering roles should note that the bulk of current recruiter interest is in IT services, which is typical for colleges of this tier in Maharashtra.
