GCEW B.Tech AEI FAQs
Ques. What is Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and what does the course cover?
Ans. Applied Electronics and Instrumentation (AEI) Engineering is a branch focused on designing and maintaining measurement, control, and automation systems. At GCEW under BPUT, the curriculum covers analog and digital electronics, microcontrollers, process control, industrial instrumentation, and embedded systems. Graduates are suited for roles in manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, power plants, and research laboratories where instrumentation and control are critical.
Ques. How many seats are available for B.Tech AEI at GCEW and how are they allotted?
Ans. GCEW offers 60 seats for B.Tech Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering as per BPUT-approved intake. Seats are allotted through OJEE 2026 B.Tech counselling based on JEE Main or OJEE rank. Odisha domicile candidates have priority in state-quota seats, while management-quota seats may be filled directly through the college. Multiple counselling rounds are conducted to fill all seats.
Ques. Does GCEW accept only OJEE scores or JEE Main as well?
Ans. GCEW accepts both JEE Main 2026 (Paper 1) and OJEE 2026 scores for B.Tech admission. Candidates with a valid JEE Main score can participate in OJEE counselling directly without appearing for OJEE separately. However, an OJEE score may improve the chances of admission for Odisha domicile candidates, especially in the state-quota pool at BPUT private colleges.
Ques. What are the career prospects after B.Tech AEI from GCEW?
Ans. B.Tech AEI graduates from GCEW can target roles in instrumentation engineering, process control, industrial automation, and quality assurance in sectors like oil and gas, power generation, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. Graduates can also appear for GATE (Instrumentation Engineering paper) for M.Tech admissions at NITs and IITs, or compete for government sector positions through UPSC ESE and Odisha state technical services.
Ques. Is the B.Tech degree from GCEW recognised and accepted by employers?
Ans. Yes. GCEW is AICTE-approved and affiliated to BPUT, a recognised state technical university in Odisha. B.Tech degrees from BPUT-affiliated colleges are accepted by government recruitment bodies including UPSC ESE, SSC JE, and state PSCs. Private sector employers across electronics, power, and infrastructure sectors hire from BPUT-affiliated institutions, and the degree is also eligible for GATE and higher studies abroad.
Ques. What scholarships are available for B.Tech AEI students at GCEW?
Ans. Students at GCEW can apply for the AICTE Pragati Scholarship (INR 50,000 per year, exclusively for women in AICTE-approved programmes), Odisha Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC candidates, NSP Minority Scholarship, and the Central Sector Scheme for top Class 12 performers with family income below INR 8 lakh. Applications for most scholarships are submitted in the first semester at scholarships.gov.in or scholarship.odisha.gov.in.
