IIE B.Tech EE FAQs

Ques. Is WBJEE mandatory for admission to B.Tech Electrical Engineering at IIE Kalyani, or can I apply with JEE Main score alone?

Ans. Both WBJEE and JEE Main scores are accepted for admission to B.Tech programmes at IIE Kalyani. However, since IIE is a West Bengal-based private engineering college affiliated to MAKAUT, the primary admission route is through WBJEE counselling conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). Students who have qualified JEE Main can also participate in the WBJEE counselling process as JEE Main scores are considered for seat allotment in West Bengal private colleges. It is strongly recommended to appear in WBJEE 2026 for a better chance of securing admission.

Ques. What is the actual fee I need to pay in the first semester at IIE Kalyani for B.Tech Electrical Engineering?

Ans. As per the official fee structure for 2026-27, the first semester fee for B.Tech Electrical Engineering is Rs. 52,500. This is the academic fee payable at the time of admission by Demand Draft or Online Transfer in favour of "Ideal Science and Research Welfare Hub". University registration and exam fees are charged separately from the 3rd semester onwards. Hostel fees, if opted for, are also paid separately and are not included in the academic fee.

Ques. Does IIE Kalyani have a hostel facility, and what are the charges?

Ans. Yes, IIE Kalyani has separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel is off-campus and the college provides its own bus service for pick-up and drop between the hostel and college. The total hostel fee for the course duration is approximately Rs. 1,99,000. Hostel charges are subject to change as per market price escalation. Fooding facilities are available at the hostel, though students have noted that the food quality could be improved. Hostel accommodation is optional and not mandatory for admission.

Ques. What kind of companies recruit Electrical Engineering students from IIE Kalyani, and what is the average package?

Ans. IIE Kalyani has a reported overall placement rate of 90%+ across all departments. Electrical Engineering students have been placed in companies such as TDK India Pvt. Ltd., Supronics Tech Pvt. Ltd., Supronics Enterprise Pvt. Ltd., JSW, L&T, Suzlon, and Reliance Jio, among others. The average package for engineering graduates from IIE is approximately Rs. 4 LPA as reported. Students from the EE department have also found opportunities in the power sector and manufacturing industries in the Kalyani industrial belt, which is in close proximity to the college.

Ques. Can I get the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship if I join IIE Kalyani for B.Tech Electrical Engineering?

Ans. Yes, students enrolled at IIE Kalyani are eligible to apply for the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM) provided by the West Bengal government, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria. The scholarship provides Rs. 60,000 per year and requires the student to be a West Bengal domicile, have scored 60% or above in 10+2, and have a family income below Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum. Applications are submitted online through the SVMCM portal (svmcm.wbhed.gov.in) and typically open in October-November. In addition, the college's own BC Roy Scholarship is available from the 4th semester onwards based on attendance and academic performance.

Ques. What is the difference between WBJEE and JELET for admission to IIE Kalyani, and who should appear for JELET?

Ans. WBJEE is the standard entrance exam for admission to the 1st year (1st semester) of B.Tech programmes at IIE Kalyani and other West Bengal engineering colleges. JELET (Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry) is a separate exam conducted by WBJEEB for students who wish to seek lateral entry directly into the 3rd semester (2nd year) of B.Tech programmes. JELET is meant for students who have completed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-approved institution with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories), or those who have passed B.Sc. with Mathematics as a subject. JELET 2026 is scheduled for 13 June 2026. Lateral entry students skip the 1st and 2nd semesters and join directly in the 3rd semester.
