KJSCE B.Tech Lateral ECE FAQs
Ques. How is Electronics & Computer Engineering different from pure Electronics or pure Computer Science programs?
Ans. Electronics & Computer Engineering is an integrated program that combines both hardware and software expertise. Unlike pure Electronics programs that focus mainly on circuits and signal processing, or pure Computer Science programs that focus on software development, this program provides a balanced curriculum covering both domains. This makes graduates versatile and employable in diverse sectors including embedded systems, IoT, automation, robotics, and AI applications where both hardware and software knowledge is essential.
Ques. What career opportunities are available after completing B.Tech in Electronics & Computer Engineering?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers in multiple sectors including embedded systems design, IoT development, robotics, automation, machine vision, artificial intelligence, VLSI design, telecommunications, and software development. Companies recruiting from KJSCE include TCS, Accenture, L&T, and other leading IT and electronics firms. The average package for the college is 8.63 LPA with a highest package of 51.72 LPA. The integrated nature of the program makes graduates suitable for roles that require both hardware and software expertise.
Ques. Can I apply for lateral entry if I have completed my diploma in Electronics or Computer Science?
Ans. Yes, you are eligible for lateral entry if you have completed a Diploma in Electronics, Computer Science, or related engineering fields with at least 50 marks (45% for persons with disability). However, admission will be offered only in the corresponding branch. For example, if your diploma is in Electronics, you can apply for Electronics & Computer Engineering at KJSCE. Merit is based on your diploma performance.
Ques. What is the duration of the lateral entry B.Tech program, and how does it differ from the regular 4-year program?
Ans. The lateral entry B.Tech program is 3 years long, whereas the regular B.Tech program is 4 years. In lateral entry, you directly join the second year of the program, allowing you to complete your degree in 3 years instead of 4. The curriculum, faculty, and placement opportunities are the same for both programs. You will study the same subjects and earn the same degree as regular B.Tech students.
Ques. Are there any internship or industry exposure opportunities during the lateral entry program?
Ans. While specific internship details are not mentioned in the official curriculum, KJSCE has strong industry connections with 146 companies visiting the campus for recruitment. The college's dedicated placement cell provides training, mock interviews, and career guidance. Many students undertake internships during their studies through the college's industry partnerships. It is recommended to contact the placement cell or faculty for specific internship opportunities available for your branch.
Ques. What is the admission fee, and is it refundable if I don't get a seat?
Ans. The application fee for lateral entry admission is Rs. 2,000, which is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances. This fee must be paid at the time of submitting the online pre-admission form. It is separate from the tuition fees and is not adjusted against the course fees. However, if you secure a seat and later decide to cancel your admission, the tuition fees are refundable as per UGC Refund Policy 2024 and 2018, with refund percentages varying based on the cancellation date.
