KJSCE M.Tech EXTC FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and M.Tech Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design)?
Ans. The M.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering program focuses on both core electronics and telecommunications engineering with emphasis on signal processing, communication systems, and practical applications. In contrast, the M.Tech Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) specializes specifically in VLSI design, semiconductor technology, and chip design. The EXTC program offers broader coverage of telecommunications and communication engineering, making it suitable for students interested in telecom industries, while the VLSI program is ideal for those pursuing semiconductor and chip design careers.
Ques. Is the M.Tech program offered in distance mode or only full-time on campus?
Ans. The M.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering at KJSCE is offered exclusively in full-time on-campus mode. Students are required to attend regular classes, laboratory sessions, and participate in project work on the campus located in Vidyavihar, Mumbai. There is no distance learning option available for this program. The full-time format ensures hands-on experience with advanced laboratory equipment and direct interaction with faculty members.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing M.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from KJSCE?
Ans. Graduates of this program have diverse career opportunities in telecommunications companies, IT firms, semiconductor industries, and research organizations. With an average package of 8.63 LPA (2024-25) and highest package reaching 51.72 LPA, students can pursue roles as design engineers, systems engineers, telecommunications specialists, embedded systems developers, and VLSI designers. Many graduates also pursue PhD programs at premier institutes or work in research and development departments of leading technology companies. The program's emphasis on practical skills and industry-relevant projects makes graduates highly employable in both domestic and international markets.
Ques. How important is the GATE score for admission, and can I get admitted with CUET-PG or PERA CET?
Ans. While GATE is the most commonly accepted entrance exam, KJSCE accepts multiple entrance exams including CUET-PG 2026 and PERA CET 2026. All three exams are equally valid for admission purposes. The admission is merit-based, meaning your rank/score in any of these accepted exams determines your eligibility. GATE typically has a larger applicant pool and more established cutoff patterns, but CUET-PG and PERA CET are equally recognized. The choice of exam depends on your preparation and preference, as all three scores are treated equally in the merit list.
Ques. What is the hostel facility and accommodation situation for M.Tech students at KJSCE?
Ans. KJSCE provides hostel facilities for both male and female students on campus. The hostel fee is approximately Rs 3.28 Lakhs for the entire 2-year course (optional and not included in the mandatory academic fees). The hostel accommodates students in shared rooms with basic amenities including internet connectivity, common areas, and dining facilities. Since the college is located in Vidyavihar, Mumbai, which is well-connected by public transport, many students also opt for private accommodation in nearby areas. Hostel allocation is done on a first-come-first-served basis after admission confirmation.
Ques. What are the internship and project opportunities during the M.Tech program?
Ans. The M.Tech program emphasizes extensive project work and internship opportunities as integral components of the curriculum. Students undertake a major thesis project in the final semester under faculty supervision, which often leads to publications in conferences or journals. The college has collaborations with industry partners and research organizations, providing internship opportunities in areas like VLSI design, embedded systems, telecommunications, and signal processing. Additionally, KJSCE has an incubation center (RIIDL) that supports student projects and startups. Students are encouraged to work on live projects with industry partners, which enhances their practical skills and industry exposure.
