Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology Amritsar B.Tech {Lateral} Civil Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. The lateral entry route admits Civil Engineering diploma holders directly into the second year of the B.Tech Civil Engineering programme, shortening the degree to three years. On completion, students receive the same B.Tech Civil Engineering degree awarded to regular four-year students. The course is AICTE approved and affiliated with IKGPTU.

Ans. Candidates must hold a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised polytechnic with a minimum of 45% marks. Admission is through the Punjab LEET 2026 examination conducted by IKGPTU, Jalandhar.

Ans. Candidates register for Punjab LEET on the IKGPTU portal, appear for the examination, and participate in centralised online counselling based on their LEET rank. On allotment to KCET, candidates report on the specified date for document verification and pay the first semester fee to confirm the seat.

Ans. The total academic fee for the three-year programme is INR 2,77,000, payable in semester instalments as per KCET’s fee schedule. Fees are subject to revision by IKGPTU for the 2026-27 session.

Ans. Lateral entry students cover years two to four of the B.Tech Civil Engineering curriculum, including structural analysis, reinforced concrete design, geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and hydraulics, transportation engineering, construction management, environmental engineering, and a design project in the final semester.

Ans. Graduates can work as site engineers, structural design assistants, quality engineers, and project coordinators in construction companies, infrastructure firms, government public works departments, and urban planning agencies. They are eligible for GATE to pursue M.Tech at IITs and NITs and can appear for state and central government civil services examinations in engineering.
