Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology Amritsar B.Tech {Lateral} Computer Science & Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. The lateral entry route admits Computer Science or IT diploma holders directly into the second year of B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, reducing the programme duration to three years. On completion, students receive the same B.Tech CSE degree as those who joined the four-year regular programme. The course is AICTE approved and affiliated with IKGPTU.

Ans. Candidates must hold a three-year Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering branch from a recognised polytechnic with a minimum of 45% marks. Admission is through the Punjab LEET 2026 examination conducted by IKGPTU.

Ans. Candidates register for the Punjab LEET through the IKGPTU portal, appear for the examination, and participate in centralised online counselling based on their LEET rank. On allotment to KCET, candidates report for document verification on the specified date and pay the first semester fee to confirm the seat.

Ans. The total academic fee for the three-year B.Tech Lateral Entry (CSE) is INR 2,77,000, payable in instalments each semester as per KCET’s fee schedule. Fees are subject to revision by IKGPTU for the 2026-27 session.

Ans. Lateral entry students cover years two to four of the B.Tech CSE curriculum, which includes data structures, algorithms, computer networks, database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and a final-year project. Electives in cybersecurity and cloud computing may also be available.

Ans. Graduates can pursue roles as software engineers, system administrators, database administrators, and IT project associates at IT companies, product firms, and public sector undertakings. They are eligible for GATE to pursue M.Tech at IITs and NITs or appear for central and state government technical service examinations.
