MIT-WPU Diploma + B.Tech FAQs

Ques. Do I receive the Diploma certificate after the first 3 years, or only after completing all 6 years?

Ans. The Diploma in Engineering is awarded after the 3-year first phase. The B.Tech degree is awarded separately after completing all 6 years. A student who exits after Year 3 holds a valid Diploma that qualifies them for employment or lateral entry into Year 2 of a regular B.Tech at another AICTE-approved institution.

Ques. Is JEE Main required for admission to the MIT-WPU Diploma plus B.Tech programme?

Ans. No, JEE Main is not required. Admission is entirely through the MIT-WPU CET, a Computer-Based Test conducted by the university. Candidates who have passed Class 10 with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) can apply directly without any national-level entrance exam score.

Ques. After the 3-year Diploma phase at MIT-WPU, can I seek lateral entry into B.Tech at another college?

Ans. Yes. Diploma graduates from MIT-WPU may apply for lateral entry to the second year of B.Tech programmes at AICTE-approved institutions through the DTE Maharashtra Direct Second Year Engineering (DSE) admission process. Selection depends on the student’s Diploma percentage and the receiving college’s policies.

Ques. Do fees differ between the Diploma phase and the B.Tech degree phase within this programme?

Ans. Yes, for most specialisations the per-year fee is lower in the Diploma phase and higher in the degree phase. For example, Computer Engineering charges INR 2,15,000 per year in the Diploma phase and INR 4,10,000 in the degree phase, totalling INR 18,75,000 over 6 years. For some specialisations, the university publishes a single average annual figure. Candidates should confirm phase-wise details with the admissions office.

Ques. Is the B.Tech degree from this integrated programme recognised by AICTE and UGC for higher studies and government jobs?

Ans. Yes. MIT-WPU is a UGC-recognised private deemed university and its engineering programmes are AICTE-approved. The B.Tech degree from this 6-year programme carries the same recognition as a regular B.Tech for higher education applications, government job eligibility, and private sector employment.
