MPSTME B.Tech AI vs B.Tech Data Science - Which Should You Choose?

Both B.Tech Artificial Intelligence (AI) and B.Tech Data Science (DS) at MPSTME are 4-year undergraduate programmes. Both have strong overlap in areas such as mathematics, programming, machine learning and data, but their academic focus is different.

Which one should you choose?

• Choose B.Tech AI if you want to specialise in AI, ML, Deep Learning, NLP or Computer Vision.
• Choose B.Tech Data Science if you prefer data analysis, statistics, visualization, predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making.
• If you are interested in both, note that machine learning and AI are present in the Data Science curriculum too, so the difference is mainly the depth and primary orientation of each programme.

A Reddit discussion on NMIMS CET suggests that B.Tech AI / AI-DS at the Mumbai campus was highly competitive, with students estimating the Phase 1 cutoff at below 400 rank. For Navi Mumbai, students reported that AI-DS could be available at higher ranks, including around 1,900 to 5,000. However, these are student-reported estimates, not official NMIMS cutoffs.
