SHEAT M.Com FAQs
Ques. Is M.Com at SHEAT affiliated to MGKVP or AKTU?
Ans. The M.Com programme at SHEAT Group of Institutions is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKVP), Varanasi - not AKTU. MGKVP is a NAAC A+ accredited state university established in 1921. The degree awarded upon completion will be from MGKVP. Students should note this distinction as AKTU primarily governs the engineering and MBA programmes at SHEAT, while commerce programmes (B.Com and M.Com) fall under MGKVP affiliation.
Ques. What is the total fee for M.Com at SHEAT, and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The total tuition fee for the 2-year M.Com programme is Rs. 44,000 (Rs. 22,000 per year). However, students should budget for additional charges including examination and registration fees (as per MGKVP norms, typically Rs. 1,000-1,500 per year), a one-time prospectus fee of Rs. 1,500, uniform charges of Rs. 5,000, and a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 5,000. If you opt for hostel accommodation, an additional Rs. 80,000 per year is charged. The total out-of-pocket cost (excluding hostel) comes to approximately Rs. 55,500 for the full programme.
Ques. Can I get admission to M.Com at SHEAT without CUET-PG? Is direct admission available?
Ans. Admission to M.Com at SHEAT is primarily through CUET-PG scores or the MGKVP entrance examination. However, SHEAT does offer a direct admission option for some seats based on merit in graduation marks. Students who have not appeared for CUET-PG can still apply directly through SHEAT's online registration portal and may be considered for direct admission subject to seat availability. It is advisable to contact the SHEAT admissions helpline (+91-7753811343) to confirm the current direct admission policy for M.Com.
Ques. What career options are available after completing M.Com from SHEAT?
Ans. After completing M.Com from SHEAT (MGKVP), graduates can pursue several career paths. The most popular route is appearing for UGC-NET/SET to qualify for Assistant Professor positions in colleges and universities. Other options include roles in accounting firms, banking and financial services, corporate finance departments, taxation consultancy, and government sector jobs. Graduates can also pursue professional certifications like CA (ICAI), CMA, or CS to enhance their career prospects. The M.Com degree also serves as a gateway to PhD programmes in Commerce for those interested in research and academics.
Ques. How is the placement support for M.Com students at SHEAT?
Ans. SHEAT has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that assists students across all programmes. However, placement activity at SHEAT is predominantly focused on engineering and MBA programmes, with companies like Accenture, BYJU'S, and others visiting for technical and management roles. For M.Com students, the placement support is more oriented towards career guidance, internship assistance, and soft skills development rather than direct campus placements. Students are encouraged to leverage the college's industry connections and alumni network for job opportunities in the commerce and finance sector.
Ques. What is the difference between M.Com at SHEAT and M.Com directly at MGKVP main campus?
Ans. Both programmes lead to the same MGKVP degree, but there are key differences. MGKVP's main campus in Varanasi offers M.Com at significantly lower fees (approximately Rs. 5,000-16,000 per year as per university norms) but admission is highly competitive through the MGKVP entrance exam. SHEAT, as an affiliated college, charges higher fees (Rs. 22,000 per year) but offers additional infrastructure benefits including a 100-acre campus, hostel facilities, activity-based learning programmes, and dedicated placement support. Students who do not secure a seat at MGKVP's main campus or prefer a more structured college environment with better facilities often opt for SHEAT's M.Com programme.
