DYPBBI Pune B.Tech M.Tech Biotech FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech Biotechnology and the integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech at DYPBBI?
Ans. The B.Tech Biotechnology is a standalone four-year programme awarding a single undergraduate degree. The integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech Biotechnology is a five-year programme that awards both degrees on completion. The integrated route allows continuous research from the first year through to the postgraduate phase without interruption and eliminates the need for a separate postgraduate entrance examination.
Ques. What is the total fee for the integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech Biotechnology at DYPBBI?
Ans. The total fee for the five-year integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech Biotechnology programme at DYPBBI is INR 10,00,300. Annual tuition starts at INR 2,00,000 in Year 1 and increases by 3% each year as per DPU fee policy. The integrated route costs INR 2,00,000 more than the standalone B.Tech, covering the additional postgraduate year of study.
Ques. What eligibility is required to apply for the integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech Biotechnology at DYPBBI?

Candidates must also be at least 17 years of age as on 31 December of the admission year.
Ques. What career options are available after the integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech Biotechnology from DYPBBI?
Ans. Graduates holding both degrees can pursue PhD programmes in biotechnology, bioinformatics, or pharmaceutical sciences at national and international universities. Industry roles include senior research associate, R and D scientist, bioprocess development engineer, and regulatory affairs officer at pharmaceutical and biotech firms. The postgraduate qualification also opens paths to research fellowships and government body recruitment such as CSIR and DBT.
Ques. Does DYPBBI have research facilities used across the five-year integrated programme?
Ans. Yes. DYPBBI has DST-FIST scheme funded laboratories for biotechnology and bioinformatics research. Students in the integrated programme engage in research projects from the undergraduate phase, with deeper project work continuing into the M.Tech thesis year. The institute also runs a Linnaeus-Palme international exchange programme with partner universities in Sweden and Tunisia, available during the postgraduate phase.
Ques. Can students from outside Maharashtra apply for the integrated programme at DYPBBI?
Ans. Yes. DYPBBI admits students from across India through AIBTCET, which is an all-India level entrance test.
