WCTM M.Tech FAQs
Ques. Is GATE mandatory for M.Tech AI & DS admission at WCTM? What if I don't have a GATE score?
Ans. GATE is required for admission through the HSTES (Haryana State Technical Education Society) counselling route, which is the government-regulated admission process. However, WCTM also offers direct/management quota admissions where GATE is not mandatory - you only need 50% in your B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc. degree. That said, having a GATE score is beneficial as it opens the government counselling route and may also make you eligible for GATE-based scholarships/stipends. Students admitted through GATE via HSTES counselling may also be eligible for AICTE stipends (subject to AICTE norms).
Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech AI & DS and M.Tech CSE at WCTM? Which one should I choose?
Ans. Both are 2-year M.Tech programs at WCTM with the same fee (Rs. 32,500/semester). M.Tech AI & DS focuses specifically on artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, and data science - ideal for students who want to specialize in AI/ML research or senior AI engineering roles. M.Tech CSE covers a broader range of computer science topics including advanced algorithms, distributed systems, and software engineering - suitable for students who want a wider CS specialization. If your career goal is specifically in AI, data science, or ML, M.Tech AI & DS is the more focused and industry-relevant choice.
Ques. What career opportunities are available after M.Tech AI & DS from WCTM?
Ans. M.Tech AI & DS graduates can pursue senior roles as AI/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Research Scientists, AI Architects, NLP Engineers, Computer Vision Engineers, and Analytics Managers in companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, Cognizant, and HCL. The degree also qualifies graduates to apply for Assistant Professor positions in engineering colleges (as per AICTE norms). Research opportunities at IITs, IISc, and other premier institutions are also available. WCTM's placement record shows an average package of 8 LPA and a highest package of 52 LPA (2024 batch).
Ques. What is the total fee for M.Tech AI & DS at WCTM? Is it affordable compared to other colleges?
Ans. The total tuition fee for M.Tech AI & DS at WCTM is Rs. 1,30,000 for the full 2-year program (Rs. 32,500 per semester x 4 semesters). This is significantly more affordable than most private engineering colleges in Delhi-NCR, where M.Tech fees typically range from Rs. 2,00,000 to Rs. 5,00,000. WCTM merit scholarships (based on graduation percentage) can further reduce the effective fee - up to 40% waiver for students with 90%+ in graduation. Haryana government scholarships are also available for SC/ST/OBC students.
Ques. Can working professionals join M.Tech AI & DS at WCTM? Is the program suitable for those already in the industry?
Ans. Yes, the M.Tech AI & DS program at WCTM is described as ideal for working professionals with programming knowledge. The program covers both foundational and applied aspects of AI and ML, making it suitable for software engineers, data analysts, and IT professionals who want to upskill and transition into AI/ML roles. However, it is a full-time on-campus program, so students need to be available for regular classes. Working professionals should check with the admissions office about any part-time or flexible options.
Ques. What research and lab facilities are available for M.Tech AI & DS students at WCTM?
Ans. WCTM provides excellent research infrastructure for M.Tech AI & DS students: the Intel Unnati AI Centre of Excellence (only college in Gurgaon), NVIDIA Dell AI Data Science and GPU Computing Lab (for deep learning and GPU-accelerated computing), HP Intel i7 13th generation AI Lab, and Apple iOS Centre of Excellence. The college has an active Research and Development Cell and an IPR Cell. International webinars by AI experts from the USA, UK, and Europe (including engineers from Facebook and Apple Cupertino) are regularly conducted. Students also benefit from industry tie-ups with companies like Vodafone Idea Foundation, ABB, and Inspire Infotech for applied AI training.
