ISI Six Sigma Black Belt FAQs
Ques. Do I need to have the ISI Green Belt specifically, or will a Green Belt from another body (ASQ, IASSC, etc.) be accepted?
Ans. The eligibility criteria state that candidates must hold a Six Sigma Green Belt certification. ISI Delhi does not explicitly restrict this to ISI's own Green Belt; a Green Belt from any recognized body (ASQ, IASSC, or other reputed institutions) should be acceptable. However, it is advisable to confirm with the institute at sqc@isid.ac.in before applying, as the selection committee has discretion in evaluating eligibility.
Ques. Is the 14-day program conducted on consecutive days or spread over weekends?
Ans. The Black Belt program at ISI Delhi is typically conducted over 14 days in a block format (consecutive working days), unlike some other providers who spread it over weekends. This makes it more suitable for professionals who can take leave from work for the duration. The exact schedule is communicated to selected participants after registration. Candidates should confirm the format with the institute when inquiring about the next batch.
Ques. What is the project requirement for the Black Belt certification?
Ans. In addition to the 14 days of classroom training, participants are required to complete a project as part of the Black Belt certification. The project should demonstrate the application of DMAIC methodology to a real-world quality improvement problem in the participant's organization. The project is evaluated by ISI faculty, and successful completion is mandatory for receiving the Black Belt certificate.
Ques. How does the ISI Delhi Black Belt compare to ASQ or IASSC Black Belt certifications?
Ans. The ISI Delhi Black Belt is highly regarded in Indian industry, particularly in manufacturing, pharma, and BFSI sectors, due to ISI's strong statistical foundation. However, for roles in multinational companies that specifically require ASQ CSSBB or IASSC ICBB certification, those credentials may be preferred. For most Indian industry roles, ISI's Black Belt is respected and valued. Candidates targeting global roles may consider supplementing ISI's certification with ASQ or IASSC credentials.
Ques. How many batches of the Black Belt program are conducted per year at ISI Delhi?
Ans. Unlike the Green Belt program (which has 3 batches per year), the Black Belt program at ISI Delhi is conducted less frequently, typically 1-2 batches per year, depending on demand. The 2024-25 training calendar listed the Black Belt dates as "To be announced." Candidates should check https://www.isid.ac.in/~sqc/trgcal.html regularly or write to sqc@isid.ac.in to be notified when the next batch is scheduled.
Ques. After completing the Black Belt from ISI Delhi, can I apply for the Master Black Belt program?
Ans. Yes. The ISI Delhi Master Black Belt program requires candidates to hold a Six Sigma Black Belt certification and have completed at least five Black Belt projects. So completing the Black Belt from ISI Delhi makes you eligible to apply for the Master Black Belt program at ISI Delhi. The Master Black Belt program is an online program with a fee of Rs. 47,200 (inclusive of GST).
