Ques. If I have a UGC-NET score in Law, do I still need to appear for the GReAT exam?
Ans. No. Candidates with a valid UGC-NET (including JRF) score are exempted from the GReAT entrance exam and are directly called for a personal interview. This is a significant advantage as it saves preparation time for a separate entrance test. However, clearing the interview is still mandatory, and admission is based on merit and seat availability. Candidates should ensure their UGC-NET score is valid at the time of application.
Ques. What is the GITAM Ph.D. Fellowship and is every admitted student eligible for it?
Ans. The GITAM Ph.D. Fellowship offers Rs. 33,000 per month for up to 3 years to full-time on-campus Ph.D. scholars. However, this fellowship is not guaranteed to every admitted student - it is awarded to selected candidates based on merit and availability of fellowship slots. Students who are not awarded the GITAM fellowship can independently apply for UGC-JRF or other government fellowships. It is advisable to clarify fellowship availability directly with the Ph.D. admissions office (phdsupport@gitam.edu) before applying.
