UCET VBU Admission Process
Admission to UCET is entirely merit-based through JEE Main scores, administered by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). There is no separate entrance test conducted by the college.
B.Tech Admission
Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biology or Computer Science, with a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST and other reserved categories). A valid JEE Main score is mandatory. The selection process is:
- Appear in JEE Main (January and/or April session, best score considered)
- Register for JCECEB state engineering counselling once merit list is published
- Exercise choices for college and branch combinations including UCET VBU branches
- Receive allotment based on JEE Main Combined Merit List (CML) rank, category, and seat availability
- Report to UCET with original documents and pay the semester fee
Based on previous JCECEB counselling data, Jharkhand-domicile General category candidates with JEE Main CML ranks up to approximately 4,000 to 8,000 have typically secured CSE and ECE seats at UCET. Mechanical Engineering remains accessible at higher CML ranks. Candidates from other states may apply through All India category seats, where available.
B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission
Diploma holders in relevant engineering branches are eligible for lateral entry into the second year (third semester) of B.Tech. JCECE (LE) is the qualifying exam. Eligibility requires a Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognised polytechnic.
