TAG CAMP FAQs
Ques. What are the prerequisites for joining the Advanced Certificate in Music Production (CAMP) at TAG Mumbai?
Ans. The CAMP is designed for students who already have a foundational understanding of music production. The key prerequisite is completion of the Certificate in Music Production (CMP) from TAG Institute or equivalent knowledge/experience in audio production. Students should be comfortable with basic DAW operation (Logic Pro X), music theory fundamentals, and basic mixing concepts before enrolling in the CAMP. The course starts directly with advanced topics like synthesis, orchestration, and film scoring, so students without prior production knowledge will find it very challenging.
Ques. What advanced skills will I gain from the CAMP that I wouldn't get from the basic Certificate in Music Production?
Ans. The CAMP takes your production skills significantly beyond the basics covered in the CMP. Key advanced skills include: mastery of advanced synthesis techniques using Native Instruments Massive, Kontakt, and Serum; orchestral arrangement and composition; scoring for films and advertisements with complex tempo mapping; advanced mixing and mastering using professional SSL, Midas, and Avid consoles; hands-on analog synthesis in TAG's synth lab; and blending orchestral and electronic elements for cinematic music. The CAMP also covers Ableton Live in depth, which is not covered in the CMP, and provides insights into the music business and industry practices.
Ques. Is the CAMP suitable for someone who wants to become a film composer or background score composer?
Ans. Yes, the CAMP is particularly well-suited for aspiring film composers and background score composers. The course includes dedicated modules on scoring for films and advertisements, orchestral arrangement, complex tempo mapping, and Indian instrument integration in compositions. Students learn to blend orchestral and electronic elements to create cinematic music, which is a core skill for film scoring. The program also covers advanced MIDI session layouts and orchestration techniques that are directly applicable to film and TV scoring work.
Ques. How does the CAMP differ from the Diploma in Music Production (DMP) at TAG? Should I do the CAMP or the DMP?
Ans. The CAMP is a 3-month advanced certificate program (₹99,000) that requires prior music production knowledge as a prerequisite and focuses exclusively on advanced techniques - synthesis, orchestration, film scoring, and advanced mixing. The DMP is a 12-month comprehensive diploma program (₹3,00,000) that covers everything from fundamentals to advanced production, making it suitable for both beginners and those with some background. If you already have solid foundational production skills and want to quickly upskill in advanced areas, the CAMP is a time-efficient and cost-effective option. If you want a complete, structured learning journey from basics to advanced, the DMP is the better choice.
Ques. What consoles and professional equipment will I work on during the CAMP?
Ans. The CAMP provides access to TAG's professional studio infrastructure for mixing and mastering training. Students work on SSL Origin 32 consoles, Midas consoles, and the Avid S series Control Surface - all of which are industry-standard equipment used in professional recording studios and post-production facilities. On the software side, students master Logic Pro X and Ableton Live, along with advanced synthesis plugins including Native Instruments Massive, Kontakt, and Serum. The synth lab sessions provide hands-on experience with analog synthesizers, which is a unique feature of TAG's curriculum.
Ques. Are there multiple intakes for the CAMP program? How do I apply?
Ans. TAG Mumbai offers three intakes per year - January, April, and October. The April 2026 intake is currently open for enrollment. To apply, you can reach out to the admissions team via call or WhatsApp at +91-7021906464, or fill out the enquiry form on the TAG Mumbai website (tagmumbai.com). After an initial counselling session where your existing production background will be assessed, you will be guided through the application and fee payment process to confirm your seat. Since batch sizes are small, it is advisable to apply early to secure your preferred intake.
