TAG DASE FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between the Diploma in Sound Engineering (DSE) and the Advanced Diploma in Sound Recording and Design (DASE) at TAG? Which one should I choose?
Ans. The DSE is a 12-month program priced at INR 3,00,000 and covers the core fundamentals of sound engineering including DAW basics, microphone techniques, recording, mixing, and mastering. The DASE (Advanced Diploma) is a 15-month program at INR 4,00,000 and builds on the DSE curriculum with an additional term covering advanced specializations such as film sound design, Dolby Atmos surround mixing, game audio, VR audio, and advanced audio production techniques. The DASE also includes a 1-month industry internship. If you are serious about a career in film sound, game audio, or immersive audio formats, the DASE is the more comprehensive and career-ready option. If you are just starting out and want to test the waters, the DSE is a solid foundation.
Ques. Does TAG Mumbai provide placement assistance after completing the Advanced Diploma? What kind of jobs can I expect?
Ans. TAG does provide placement assistance and has a network of placement partners including professional studios and production houses. However, as with most specialized audio programs, placements are not guaranteed and depend significantly on the student's own skill level, portfolio, and initiative. Alumni have gone on to work at studios like Bombay Live Studios, Crastos Studios, Island City Studios, Mariyano Studios, and Jam8, among others. Entry-level roles typically include Assistant Recording Engineer, Sound Editor, and Junior Mix Engineer. Students are advised to actively build their portfolio and network during the course to maximize placement opportunities.
Ques. Is there any entrance exam required to get admission into the DASE program at TAG Mumbai?
Ans. No national-level entrance exam is required for admission to the Advanced Diploma in Sound Recording and Design at TAG Mumbai. The admission process is direct - you enquire, attend a counselling session, submit your application and documents, and confirm your seat by paying the fees. However, if you wish to apply for the merit scholarship, you will need to appear for a written aptitude test and a personal interview conducted by the institute.
Ques. Can I pay the course fee in installments? Are education loans available for this program?
Ans. Yes, TAG Mumbai offers EMI options for qualifying students, allowing you to spread the course fee of INR 4,00,000 over a period of time. Additionally, students can apply for education loans through banks. It is recommended to contact the admissions team directly at +91-7021906464 or admission@taginstitute.com to understand the specific EMI plans and loan tie-ups available at the time of your enrollment.
Ques. What software and equipment will I learn to use during the DASE program?
Ans. The DASE program trains students on industry-standard tools used by professionals globally. On the software side, you will learn Cubase and Pro Tools (the two most widely used DAWs in professional studios). On the hardware side, you will work with the Midas M32 digital console, professional microphones, and studio monitoring systems. The advanced terms also cover Dolby Atmos production tools for immersive surround sound mixing, as well as game audio middleware and VR audio tools. The institute's studios are equipped to professional standards, giving students hands-on experience with the same gear used in top recording studios.
Ques. What is the batch schedule at TAG Mumbai? How many intakes are there in a year?
Ans. TAG Mumbai offers three intakes per year - January, April, and October. The April 2026 intake is currently open for enrollment. Batch sizes are kept small to ensure each student gets adequate studio time and personalized attention from faculty. Since seats are limited, it is advisable to complete the admission process and confirm your seat well in advance of the batch start date.
