IITB Civil vs IIT Indore EE vs IIT KGP Mech vs IITK Chem. What to choose for 2025 admission?
Confused what to choose between IITB Civil vs IIT Indore EE vs IIT KGP Mech vs IITK Chem for 2025 admission.
Want opportunities in Software companies so hoping that old IIT tag could help even after studying in core branches. Or should I strictly go for circuital branches only like IIT Indore EE?
Kindly suggest.

QuantumFlux_Mechanical Engineering degree will keep doors open for the robotics field as well, while Civil Engineering doesn’t offer such benefits. If you start working on robotics-related projects from the 1st or 2nd year itself, it becomes much easier to get internships at foreign universities. A mechanical degree complements your coding skills, whereas civil doesn’t support them in any meaningful way. The way AI is taking over, the combination of robotics and coding is gonna boom.

QuantumFlux_If you are not getting CSE or ECE in any college then simply go for OLD IITs and prepare for software alongside your branch studies. You'll get plenty of time to gain some good knowledge. Most of my friends who were in core branches did this and got a good placement. Remember companies see the tag in the beginning of the career, so old ones matter. My best bet would be ME, IIT KGP. Didn't choose IIT Bombay because it's civil, which will be completely on the other side of what you want to achieve here.
