The University of Bayreuth has a total enrolment of 13,497 students, out of which 2,337 are graduate students. They have a staff of 2,462 with 238 professors. 11.4% , i.e. 1,535, of its students are international students. As of 2019, they have the highest enrolment in the Law, Business and Economics department with 5,870 students. Furthermore, the university offers programs taught in German as well as English in some cases.

Since most of the programs offered at the University of Bayreuth are taught in German, all students are required to provide evidence of German Language proficiency. Some programs like Computer Science, Applied Computer Science and Business Administration & Engineering also require a uni-asset review of all documentation in the case of international applicants. This requires a separate fee and takes about 6-8 weeks to be issued. All degrees are examined by the Examination Board to check for equivalency, which also requires credit points and semester hours per week.
In courses where industrial training is required, the proof of training is regulated by the Internship Regulations at the Engineering Faculty. Students are advised to apply as early as possible to ensure enough time to provide all required documentation and verification.
