Delft University of Technology PhD Admissions for Indian Students
TU Delft PhDs are structured as paid employee positions, not fee-paying degrees. Indian applicants apply to posted project vacancies listed on the TU Delft Jobs portal. Selected candidates receive a salary with full employee benefits for the four-year contract.
How Indian Students Apply for a TU Delft PhD
Prospective PhD candidates search for open positions through the TU Delft vacancy portal, posted year-round. Each listing includes the research project, principal investigator, and application deadline. Candidates submit a motivation letter, CV, research proposal (if asked), and transcripts directly to the hiring faculty, not through Studielink.
Delft University of Technology PhD Funding and Stipend
TU Delft PhD candidates earn a monthly gross salary starting at EUR 2,901 in year 1 (around INR 3.18 Lakhs) and rising to EUR 3,707 by year 4 (around INR 4.06 Lakhs) for the 2026-27 academic year. Overview
The university ranks no.1 in the QS world ranking for water management courses. That's the reason for my application to this university. Monetary-wise, the expenses are less when compared to the USA and Australia (Where I had my other admissions from). My interest always lied in wastewater treatment and reuse. Hence, I really wanted to do masters in this stream. Politically as well, The Netherlands has zero racism. You are allowed to be yourself without people judging you. The crime rates are so less that they are starting to close prisons. It was also one of the key parameters in choosing the university.

Among the 'space' related specializations offered, this university had the top rank. I focussed on non-USA universities only, because space field coming under the purview of defence in USA, thus restricting job opportunities for non-citizens.
