Eindhoven University of Technology Application Deadlines
TU/e runs a single primary intake in September. Non-EU master’s applications close four months earlier than non-EU bachelor’s applications because the master’s committee needs added time for subject-matching and visa paperwork. Dates below are TU/e-published non-EU timelines for the September 2027 intake per the official TU/e admission and enrollment page.
| Intake | Level | App Opens | Deadline (non-EU) | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | Master’s | Open | 1 February 2027 | €100 (₹11,004) | MyStart@TU/e, then Studielink |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | Bachelor’s | Open | 1 May 2027 | €100 (₹11,004) | MyStart@TU/e, then Studielink |
| September 2027 | Pre-master | Open | 1 May 2027 | €100 (₹11,004) | MyStart@TU/e, then Studielink |
TU/e’s primary intake for Indian students is September; nearly every bachelor’s and master’s program opens here. There is no February master’s intake for international students. Applying by 1 February 2027 also triggers automatic consideration for the TU/e Scholarship for Excellence, so this date doubles as the scholarship-track deadline.
Planning note: IND visa processing from India typically needs 10 to 12 weeks after admission. Submit well before the deadline so the offer lands by early April and your MVV paperwork starts on time.
Eindhoven University of Technology Eligibility for Indian Students
Eligibility at TU/e is split by level. Bachelor’s entry is anchored to Class XII results with science prerequisites, while master’s entry needs a four-year Indian bachelor’s with grades mapped to a Dutch 7.0 (around 70 percent) on a 10-point scale. Both levels share a single English-language floor.
- Bachelor’s entry: Class XII at 70 percent or above with Mathematics and Physics (plus Chemistry for chemical and biomedical tracks)
- Master’s entry: four-year Indian bachelor’s (BE, BTech, BSc Honours) in a closely related subject with a weighted average of 70 percent or more
- English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 90 with each section at 21+, or Cambridge CAE/CPE grades A to C
- GRE: not required for any TU/e master’s program, including Data Science and Computer Science
- Pre-master pathway: three-year Indian bachelor’s holders are usually routed through a 30-ECTS pre-master before the two-year master’s
Eindhoven University of Technology IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
TU/e waives the IELTS or TOEFL requirement only in narrow cases. Indian applicants qualify if their prior degree was fully taught and examined in English, confirmed by a signed Medium of Instruction letter from the university registrar that explicitly covers both instruction and assessment. Letters that only cover instruction are routinely rejected. Applicants from English-medium bachelor’s programs at IITs, NITs, BITS, and most private engineering universities commonly succeed with this waiver; applicants from state universities where some assessment is bilingual rarely do.
Eindhoven University of Technology PG Programs
TU/e offers 24 English-taught two-year master’s programs across engineering, computer science, physics, and industrial design, each carrying 120 ECTS. Base tuition for non-EU master’s applicants runs €19,300 to €21,000 per year (₹21.24 to ₹23.11 Lakhs) depending on the program; the full course-wise fees breakdown covers every variant. The table below lists programs most-selected by Indian applicants with the subject prerequisites TU/e enforces at admission.

Eindhoven University of Technology UG Programs and Entry Requirements
TU/e offers 16 bachelor’s programs with a growing English-taught cohort. Non-EU bachelor’s tuition is €18,000 per year (₹19.81 Lakhs). Four tracks run under Numerus Fixus, which means a capped intake and a separate selection round that closes on 15 January, well before the standard non-EU deadline.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| BSc Data Science (joint with Tilburg) | 3 years | Class XII 70%+ with Mathematics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BSc Computer Science & Engineering (Numerus Fixus) | 3 years | Class XII 75%+ with Mathematics and Physics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BSc Applied Mathematics | 3 years | Class XII 80%+ with Mathematics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BSc Electrical Engineering | 3 years | Class XII 70%+ with Mathematics and Physics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BSc Mechanical Engineering (Numerus Fixus) | 3 years | Class XII 75%+ with Mathematics and Physics | IELTS 6.5 |
| BSc Industrial Design | 3 years | Class XII 70%+, portfolio and motivation review | IELTS 6.5 |
Indian Class XII results are converted using the TU/e grading-conversion grid; a CBSE or ICSE 70 percent is treated as the operational floor. State-board scores are reviewed individually, often with a request for the Class XI mark sheet alongside.
Eindhoven University of Technology PhD Admissions
PhDs at TU/e are not centrally admitted. Each candidate applies to a specific research vacancy posted by a department or research group and is hired as a paid salaried employee for four years, not enrolled as a tuition-paying student. There is no application fee for PhD vacancies and no English test waiver carve-out: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 still applies.
How Indian Applicants Reach a TU/e PhD Vacancy
Open positions appear on the TU/e vacancies board and on AcademicTransfer. A master’s degree in a closely related discipline with a strong research project or publication is the baseline. Shortlisted candidates face a technical interview with the prospective promotor and a second-round panel; many PhD openings in AI, chip design, and photonics close within three to four weeks of posting.
Insider note: Email the group leader directly before the vacancy closes with a one-page research proposal that cites two of their recent papers. TU/e PhD hiring is group-driven, so a signal of fit from the PI almost always decides the shortlist.
Eindhoven University of Technology Application Process
Indian applicants apply through MyStart@TU/e, the university’s own portal, and complete enrollment registration in Studielink only after an offer is issued. The full process from account creation to offer takes 8 to 10 weeks for non-EU master’s applicants.
- Create a MyStart@TU/e account at the TU/e application portal and pick your program
- Pay the application fee of €100 (₹11,004) on the MyStart@TU/e portal; waived only for a second application in the same cycle
- Upload transcripts, degree certificate, CV, motivation letter, and English-test score report
- Add two referee emails for recommendation letters, sent directly by referees via the portal
- Submit; the admissions committee reviews within six to eight weeks
- Accept the offer in writing and pay the guarantee fee (first-year tuition and living funds proof)
- Register in Studielink once admitted, then begin the IND visa and residence-permit application through TU/e
MyStart@TU/e saves draft applications, so you can upload documents in stages. Keep every file under 2 MB in PDF and name each file in the exact format TU/e lists in its upload checklist.
Eindhoven University of Technology Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline
Decisions arrive on a rolling cadence after the 1 February deadline, so earlier applicants hear back first. Most non-EU master’s offers land between mid-March and early April 2027, giving admitted students a working window for scholarship confirmation and IND processing.
- Offer letter: issued via MyStart@TU/e within 6 to 8 weeks of a complete submission
- Conditional offers: common when IELTS, final transcript, or degree certificate is pending
- Offer acceptance window: typically four weeks from issue; after that, the seat lapses
- Deferral: allowed to the next September intake in genuine visa-delay cases, with written approval
- Appeals: rejected applicants can request a reasoned review within six weeks, through the Admissions Office
The scholarship outcome for applicants who submitted by 1 February is announced late March 2027, in parallel with the admission letter. Non-selection for the scholarship does not affect the admission decision itself.
Documents Required for Eindhoven University of Technology Admissions
The document set is strict and reviewed before the academic committee ever sees your file. Missing or incorrectly named documents are the single biggest reason Indian applications are returned as "incomplete" during peak season.
- Valid Indian passport (bio page scan, validity through at least December 2029)
- Class X and Class XII mark sheets with the board certificate
- Certified transcripts of all bachelor’s semesters, in English, with the grading scale explained
- Provisional or final bachelor’s degree certificate, certified in English
- Updated academic CV covering projects, internships, and publications
- Motivation letter of 500 to 800 words, program-specific
- Two signed recommendation letters, submitted via referee emails inside MyStart@TU/e
- IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge score report sent directly to TU/e by the test board
- Medium of Instruction letter from the Indian university, if claiming an English-test waiver
- Passport-size photograph meeting TU/e size and background specifications
- Signed TU/e verification-of-documents form from the issuing institution
Certification must be done by the issuing university or by the Indian notary; apostilled transcripts are accepted but not required at the application stage.
Eindhoven University of Technology Acceptance Rate
TU/e does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent estimates place overall admission for international master’s applicants at around 25 to 35 percent, based on competitive engineering-intake patterns at Dutch technical universities; selectivity is sharper in Data Science & AI, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering, where the applicant-to-seat ratio runs higher.
Why Program Matters More Than Overall Rate
Numerus Fixus bachelor’s programs select from a capped pool, so admit rates there are often under 30 percent. Masters without a Numerus Fixus cap can admit most Indian applicants who clear the 70 percent weighted-average floor and subject prerequisites. Your subject fit with the program’s listed prerequisites matters more than your overall GPA.
TU/e Ranking Band and What It Signals
TU/e sits in the QS top 150 and the THE top 200, and ranks third among Dutch technical universities for engineering. The full ranking band covers subject-level standings. Admissions reviewers weight this reputation into expectations: your prior bachelor’s university name carries less weight than the match between your course list and the TU/e program’s prerequisites.
Planning note: If your weighted average sits in the 65 to 69 percent band, strengthen the file with a research paper, strong internship letters, or coursework in the exact prerequisite areas. Admissions committees do weigh these when the headline percentage is borderline.
Netherlands Student Visa Process for Eindhoven University of Technology Students
Indian students need an MVV entry visa plus a VVR residence permit for study longer than 90 days. TU/e acts as the recognised sponsor and files the MVV and VVR application with the IND on your behalf; you do not approach the Dutch embassy for the student permit yourself. The IND fee for the 2026-2027 cycle is around €243 (₹26,740), paid to TU/e as part of the pre-arrival package. Financial proof of around €13,500 (₹14.85 Lakhs) for the first year, covering living costs, is deposited into a TU/e-held guarantee account before the permit is filed. After arrival, biometrics are collected at an IND desk in Eindhoven within two weeks, and the plastic residence card follows in three to four weeks.
2026 update: IND India-track processing has stabilised at 8 to 10 weeks when documents are complete; schedule the VFS biometrics appointment the day TU/e issues the MVV approval notice to avoid an avoidable 2-week delay.
Eindhoven University of Technology Admission Tips and Checklist
The tips and action steps below are drawn from recurring Indian-applicant patterns at TU/e over the last three admission cycles. Combine them with your program-specific prerequisite list for a complete runway.
- Book your IELTS or TOEFL by October 2026 so the official score report reaches TU/e before 1 February
- Request certified transcripts eight weeks early — Indian university registrars often take four to six weeks for certified English copies
- Match your motivation letter to the program’s prerequisite list point by point; vague "passion for AI" essays underperform
- Line up referees by mid-December 2026 and give them the TU/e portal link plus a draft summary of your work together
- Apply by 1 February for scholarship consideration — this doubles as the admission deadline, with no separate scholarship form
- Prepare for a prerequisite-matching review — the committee maps your bachelor’s course list against TU/e’s required subject areas, so highlight the matches in your CV
- Keep €13,500 ready in liquid form by March 2027 for the guarantee-account transfer; late transfers delay the MVV filing
- Book your IND biometrics slot the day TU/e sends the MVV approval, not a week later
- Confirm housing through TU/e Innovation lab (TU/e Holding) alongside the offer acceptance; Eindhoven’s rental market tightens by June
Eindhoven University of Technology admissions reward preparation that is prerequisite-matched, documents-complete, and timed to the 1 February scholarship-plus-admission deadline. Indian applicants with a four-year engineering bachelor’s at 70 percent and IELTS 6.5 clear the baseline comfortably, leaving program fit and the motivation letter as the real decision levers.

- Open atmosphere to internationals
- Application based studies i.e strong theoretical and practical balance
- Graduates are well‑prepared to work in industry, R&D, consulting roles
Dislikes
- General professors are busy and hard to reach
- Some courses are quite intensive if no prior background
- International students outside the EU pay 10 times the fees as EU students
Scholarship
- There was a scholarship facility; I am not sure of the name now. Eligibility criteria were the same as application criteria, so everyone was eligible when you submitted a form
- A complete waiver of tuition fees and, additionally, 500 euros per month was given for living expenses. 3 to 4 per stream, I think, got the scholarship.

Likes
- I would say the campus environment is very vibrant and I get to meet people from different diversities and cultures
- I feel like the professors are very approachable and helpful which makes it easier to communicate your doubts with them be yourself around them.
- The area of research is given a lot of emphasis and has several labs and practical facilities to support application oriented learning in my university
Dislikes
- Sometimes the course workload gets quite heavy, especially when multiple deadlines fall in the same week, which can be a bit overwhelming
- Some courses such as advanced algorithms are highly theoretical and could include more practical or hands-on elements to make the learning experience even better.
- The cost of university oriented housing is quite high and could be reduced to make it affordable for students.
Scholarship
- I am aware there is a scholarship available for my course but I think you need to receive a high grade in your bachelor's and be academically excellent in order to get it. I know only one person in my entire friend group who has received it. The guidelines for receiving it are mentioned on the university website. I did not receive any scholarship. The name of the scholarship is ALSP/HS.

- Hands on approach - Based on the courses that you select, you will also have laboratory experiments/case studies where you can explore all the possibilities to provide a solution. University appreciates genuine solutions and does not always expect you to provide the right solution for those problems.
- Open choice for projects - You will have your own freedom for choosing the projects for courses/internship/thesis. One of the important things in an internship/thesis project is that you will also have the freedom to shape/change your problem statement of the project as you make progress.
- Mentor/Academic advisors - In continuation of the previous point. It is common to get confused in the selection of projects, that's where you have sought the help of academic advisors, who can guide you to the right person and offer support in case you are having some academic performance issues. Choosing a professor mentor in the field that you would like to work is an added plus. He/She will be able to make arrangements for any projects with industry people/university candidates. University makes sure you have both the connection within the first two months of your academic year.
Dislikes
- Too much self study - Sometimes it feels like you have to handle many things and bot on your own for so much during the initial days. The university doesn't give you time to adapt to their educational style and will demand more.
- Scheduling - There are many things that can alter the regular flow of the course schedule, like frequent train issues, protests, and hacking. These events mostly will bother your regular schedule and rescheduling will kind of be a mess.
- Teamwork - There are also some effects due to the above point in case if you do have a course related to teamwork/group projects. In some cases the train strikes will cause your teammates to be unable to travel so you'll have to do their work, although if they are present via Teams. Group project demands contribution from each person and proper workload is not divided, it can also cause unnecessary stress and the university does not help much in this case.
Scholarship
- There are scholarships available, like the ALSP (5000 EUR per year) and the Holland scholarship (5000 EUR) per year.
- I was not selected for the scholarship. For non-EU people, we have to apply for admission before the month of February so that you will automatically be included in the eligibility list.
- My batchmates didn't receive any scholarships, so it is quite a demand to get one too.
- I am unaware of the average details and further info.

- Balance between theory and practical projects
- Group projects with at least 5 members to promote real life teams
- Interdisciplinary projects between mechanical, chemical, sustainability engineers
Dislikes
- Crowded classes as the auditorium only had about 100 seats or so
- Expensive tuition fees for an international students
- Limited course availability for some electives (overall good)
Scholarship
- I personally did not receive any scholarship; however, I do think there are things in place for that. I have seen some people get around 3-4K euros of tuition fees removed per year but not the full extent of tuition fees, though.
- The amount of scholarship could be an estimate of about 10-15 on the generous side per year. There is a student transportation card available for students to use and also insurance is really good with about a 66% discount for students for normal insurance.

Likes
- Lot of different specializations to choose from.
- The proximity of the university to Eindhoven's automotive high-tech campus (in Helmond) gives great exposure and opportunity.
- Extremely talented and qualified faculty.
Dislikes
- Expensive when compared to EU citizens. Non EU citizens pay 17000-20000 euros p.a. whereas EU citizens only pay 2000 euros p.a.
- Some specialization groups like to extend the thesis research for a long time leading to additional expenses for students. But I think now there is a cap on how long the thesis can continue.
- Very limited student housing options. The two student dormitories in campus have a combined capacity to house around 800 students, whereas the total university strength is > 10000.
Scholarship
- No, I did not receive any scholarship.
- A few of my batchmates received it. I think scholarships range from 50% tuition fee to 100% tuition fee and some percentage of living expenses.
- I am not sure about the exact number of students that receive scholarships each year, but around 5-7 students from a class of 60 students had scholarships when I was studying there.

Likes
- Close proximity to high tech industries in Eindhoven so lots of internship and project opportunities
- High research oriented professors and faculty
- International community is very active and vibrant in the university
Dislikes
- Highly engineering focused university, lack of other disciplines is evident
- International tuition fees is very steep, compared to EU tuition fees
- Masters program have a tendency to get extended due to internship/thesis project administrative issues, which implies students have to pay extra fees for the extended period
Scholarship
- Yes, there is a scholarship that is with the Dutch government. Scholarship amounts vary based on students. It can vary from completely free or partly reduced tuition fees or sometimes they provide a living expense amount as a stipend to the student. I am not sure about the process now.
- I did not receive a scholarship so I don't know too much about it.

- Great international environment and diversity
- Well educated faculty from several countries
- World-class facilities when it came to machinery and equipment
Dislikes
- Complicated administrative processes
- Lack of flexibility and leniency
- No affordable cafetaria and restaurant available on campus, also closest grocery store was quite far to go in between during classes
Scholarship
- Unfortunately for the Bachelor's there are no scholarships available for students coming from India to my program.
- There are, however, options for a scholarship for Master's if you perform exceedingly well within the university and achieve cum laude during your Bachelor's (at least an average GPA of above 8 and a high score for your final thesis [above 9]).
- There are also scholarships provided by companies in the region, like ASML but all of those scholarships usually act as a max of 5-10k per year (Master's costs 21k per annum).
- One of my batchmates was offered a 50% scholarship but went to the UK instead. You can estimate only 25% of students graduate within 3 years each year at a maximum; out of that, not even a tenth probably get these scholarships.

Likes
- Cultural diversity
- In vicinity of many companies and ASML headquarters
- Balance between research/academia and industry related course content
Dislikes
- Less chances of collaboration with other students for studies
- Some professors and courses are too demanding
- Some of the facilities in some departments are old (monitors, pc, etc.)
Scholarship
- ALSP scholarship is the one which everyone applies for. If you apply to TU/e before 1st Feb, then you are considered for it but the competition is too much. I did not get any scholarship. You need to have a high CGPA for this. Out of 2500 applicants, only 50 are awarded the scholarship.
- There is a scholarship from ASML and the amount is 5000 euros for a year. It does not cover the entire amount but it is still helps. The criteria is any student having CGPA above 7.5 is eligible. I was aware of this so didn't apply.
- There are India based scholarships (interest free loans) as well which help students cover some part of their tuition fee. I think Mahindra and TATA give them, I was not aware of this as well so couldn't apply.

- Yes, it's by the university itself. You get immediately considered when you apply but a few get it. No idea how many students receive it but only tuition fees and even if you do get a scholarship, you still have to wire the tuition fee of 16500 euros which you get back later.
- You also get back the 10,500 euros back for spending, it's just that university should know you have that amount.
