Deadlines are cycle-specific. Programmes with capped seats such as Nursing and Paramedicine close earlier than the university-wide date.

Auckland University of Technology Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian applicants must show a recognised academic qualification, an accepted English test score and full identity documentation. Requirements vary by faculty and level.

Postgraduate Requirements at Auckland University of Technology

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 in a related discipline from a recognised Indian university (recommended); MBA needs 60% plus 3 years’ work experience
  • English: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 90 (writing 21) or PTE Academic 58 (communicative skills 50)
  • Other accepted tests: Cambridge English (176 with 169 in each skill) and NZCEL Level 4 General; IELTS Academic Online and PTE Academic Online are not accepted for masters entry
  • Nursing and teaching: IELTS 7.0 or OET is compulsory; English-medium waivers do not apply to these programmes

Undergraduate Requirements at Auckland University of Technology

  • Academic: Class 12 with 70% to 85% in four academic subjects from CBSE, CISCE or a major state board (recommended); programme-specific subject requirements apply for Engineering and Health
  • English: IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 60 or PTE Academic 50
  • Waiver route: Indian applicants who studied in English medium for the last three years may submit a Medium of Instruction letter or strong Class 12 English marks in lieu of IELTS on non-nursing programmes

Key insight: AUT does not require GRE or GMAT for any masters programme, including the MBA; a strong Statement of Purpose and one to two years of relevant work experience carry more weight than test scores for business and IT admissions.

Auckland University of Technology Acceptance Rate 2027

Auckland University of Technology maintains an estimated acceptance rate of 91%, reflecting an open-access admission model relative to research-intensive New Zealand universities. The figure is derived from third-party estimates and is not officially published by AUT.

Admission is competitive within capped programmes such as Nursing, Paramedicine and Occupational Therapy, where entry rests on programme quotas and clinical placement capacity. An offer is not automatic even for qualified applicants; academic records, statements of purpose and English test scores all shape the decision.

Reality check: A high headline rate does not mean easy entry; Indian applicants for Nursing and Paramedicine face effective acceptance rates closer to 30% because of clinical seat caps and IELTS 7.0 minimums.

Auckland University of Technology Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

AUT reports an 88% graduate employment rate within nine months of course completion. QS awards AUT a maximum 5-star rating for Employability from 2023 to 2025.

  • Employment rate: 88% of graduates in employment or further study within 9 months of course completion, per the 2023 AUT Graduate Outcomes Survey
  • Bachelor’s median salary: NZD 60,000 (INR 33.98 lakh) per year across all disciplines
  • Masters median salary: NZD 75,000+ (INR 42.47 lakh) for engineering, IT, analytics and construction management graduates
  • Work-integrated learning: 92% of undergraduate programmes include mandatory placements, industry projects or capstone components
  • Post-study work visa: Indian graduates qualify for up to 3 years of open work rights in New Zealand based on programme level
  • Careers support: Dedicated Employability Lab, CV clinics, mock interviews and employer networking events across the calendar year

Auckland University of Technology vs Peer Universities

Indian students weighing AUT typically compare it against other New Zealand universities in Auckland and Wellington, and one cross-country Australian option in the same fee band.

AUT stands out on price-to-outcome. Its 88% placement rate and 5-star QS employability rating deliver research-university employer recognition at 20 to 30% lower annual tuition than the University of Auckland.

Auckland University of Technology suits Indian students who value industry-linked masters programmes and want an Auckland base without the higher tuition of the University of Auckland. The total investment of INR 40 to 55 lakh for a 1.5-year masters, weighed against a median engineering or IT salary of INR 42 lakh, delivers a payback window of 2 to 3 years. Graduates gain up to three years of post-study work rights in New Zealand.

AUT will not suit applicants set on a top-100 QS research brand or those targeting pure academic research pathways. Indian students with those goals should compare the University of Auckland or the University of Otago before committing.

Campus Life

  • It was pretty good; we have 3 campuses in Auckland.
  • There will be plenty of clubs and extracurricular activities every day, good research facilities, 10/10 libraries and sports facilities.

Fees

  • I paid around 24 lakhs INR for whole course (1 yr).

Overview

Since it had a 2-year program in business management I chose this college. It is not multicultural at all. Just try to come here for your master's or doctorate, if you want to settle in Canada.

There are no clubs like in Indian colleges, very few extracurricular activities as well. There are sports clubs, but there is nothing such as music, theater or dance clubs in our college. There are enough sports. My experience on this is of an international student and may be wary of the experience of a local student.

Overview

I had to submit a resume and all my a level result sheets, i also included recommendation letters. It aligned with my interests and I liked the course structure. It is definitely easier to make friends if you are out going and open to talking to new people. I made friends almost immediately on my first day in university. everyone is nice and open to getting to know others.

Campus has many facilities, free wifi, many spots on campus where students can buy food, a recreation centre and a gym, lots of clubs.

Overview

It provides me with the best foundation and skills in the field of media and communications. AUT is a progressive place, always improving and accommodating to students in new ways that make studying less of a chore. It was the best choice all round.

Fees

Fees was through student loan, plus a student allowance that you can apply for which is $220 a week that needs to be paid back as well.

In order to obatin a Student visa in New Zealand you must have received an admission offer letter from a recognized institution in the country. Once you have received the offer letter, you are eligible to apply for a student visa. You can check the application procedure as well as other information from New Zealand Student Visa.
