New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced the Grant for Organising Conference (GOC) scheme available to its approved institutions. The GOC scheme will provide financial assistance to to AICTE-approved institutions for organising conferences in diverse fields such as science and technology, management, and hotel management.

AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam emphasised that the scheme's primary objective is to bring together academicians and experts from across the country and abroad to share knowledge, experiences, and research findings. "Through this scheme, academia can disseminate and exchange knowledge with industry and other knowledge domains," he said.
Who are Eligible for Applying for AICTE GOC Scheme?
Institutions need to fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to apply for AICTE GOC Scheme:
- AICTE-approved institute with at least 8 years of existence.
- Coordinator: Full-time regular Associate Professor/Professor/Senior faculty with at least 10 year of experience teaching & research with publications and has organised at least three conferences if applying for international conference and one conference if applying for national conference.
- Co-coordinator: Faculty with at least 7 years of experience in teaching & research and has organised at least one conference if applying forinternational conference.
- The organising department should preferably be NBA-accredited
- Weightage will be given to conferences supported by organisations like:
- leading professional bodies like IEEE/ ASME/ ASCE etc.
- reputed organisations/ departments/technical universities etc.
- iii. industry/ industry associations/ R&D labs etc.
- In case of collaboration, a letter from leading professional bodies like IEEE/ ASME/ASCE, reputed organisations/ departments/technical universities etc. as applicable may be furnished with the application.
What are the Types of Conferences Supported?
AICTE invites proposals for partial grants under two categories:
- Category A: For organising conference in pre-defined themes (periodically decided by the experts committee) announced by AICTE. One-third of the total expenditure incurred on organising the Conference is subject to a maximum of INR 3 Lakh on reimbursement basis.
- Category B: For conferences proposed by the institutions in Emerging areas/ Core Engineering/ Technical disciplines/ Management/ Hotel Management/ MICT (Multi-/Inter-/ Cross-/ Trans) disciplinary areas. One-third of the total expenditure incurred on organising the Conference subject to a maximum of INR 2 lakh on reimbursement basis.
How to Apply for the GOC Scheme?
Applications are invited throughout the year. The Institutes must apply through its login ID at www.aicte-india.org and must apply at least 8 months prior to date of Conference. The selection process will be conducted in the following manner:
- Online submission of application by the institution.
- Applications received every two months will be processed in a single lot.
- Screening/scrutiny of applications at Council.
- Evaluation of applications by the expert committee.
- The final decision will be taken by the Council, keeping in view the recommendations made by the experts and the availability of
- funds for the scheme.
- After the Council’s approval, the Offer Letter for the conference will be sent to the institution.
- Offer Letter can be used by institute to raise funds from other sponsors.
