October 21, 2020: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister announced the reopening of schools from November 2, 2020, in a video conference. Online e-learning classes will continue for students who wish to take classes from home.

During an online conference on October 20, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister stated that the classes 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th will have physical class on day 1, and the remaining classes i.e, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th will have classes on the next day.

Classes will be held on alternative days. Schools of Andhra Pradesh will be open for half-day from November 2, 2020. Students will be sent to their homes after the midday meals, added AP CMO.

Andhra Pradesh School Reopening Guidelines

During the commencement of physical classes in Andhra Pradesh schools, the strict COVID-19 guidelines will be followed by the school authority.

As per the guidelines released, the following activities needs to be done in AP schools:

Schools having a total strength of more than 750 students can schedule only two working days in a week.
The schools that have less than 750 students will be able to work for three days per week.
Hand sanitization and physical distancing are mandatory during the commencement of classes. Students will be divided into two different sections in order to prevent congestion in the classroom.
All schools must prepare to follow the covid-19 guidelines before the reopening of schools.

Andhra Pradesh: SOPs to follow after Schools Reopen

Frequent cleaning of schools touched items and surfaces are mandatory to clean with 1% hypochlorite solutions.
Teachers or students from contaminant zones are not permitted to attend physical classes.
Those who can not attend physical classes due to coronavirus can take online classes.
Maximum Physical distance and contraction must be followed during the commencement of physical classes.
Students, teachers, and school faculty must wear masks, use sanitizers, and maintain at least 6 feet physical distance in between.

With the CM's decision to reopen schools from November 2, teachers and parents of students expressed their happiness.

A parent of an AP school student said, "State government has finally taken a decision on resuming schools and we welcome it.”

“Classes on alternative days will help reduce the chances of COVID-19 spread. School management should sanitize the classrooms every day and maintain a healthy environment."
