Bihar STET 2020 Slated to be an Online Re-Exam

Bihar State Teacher’s Eligibility Test (STET) 2020 re-exam is slated to be an online examination.

The state education department in association with Beltron (Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation Limited) will conduct the exams online.

Giriwar Dayal Singh, Secondary Education Director approved of the prospect on Friday (19 June 2020) assigning Beltron the project to arrange an online examination.

Earlier, 2.47 lakh students attended Bihar STET held on January 28, 2020, across 317 examination centres.

Following this, a four-membered committee headed by Nilkamal, Chief Vigilance Officer probed into cases of question paper leakage and other irregularities leading to its cancellation.

On May 17, 2020, a report by the committee was presented to BSEB stating the exam to be void as question papers were leaked and circulated over mobile phones.

The report further revealed that in many exam centres students vandalised the property. Added to this, the questions framed for social science subjects were not separated in different groups.

Thus, considering the chaos and irregular conditions, the committee decided on a re-examination.

After a gap of 8 years, Bihar STET was held in January 2020. The re-exam will be conducted around August-September and students will not have to apply or pay fees for the exam again.
