Calcutta HC instructs private schools to allow unlimited access to online classes until Aug 15

The Calcutta High Court has instructed all the private unaided schools to provide unlimited access to the students for online classes, until August 15, 2020.

There are about 112 Calcutta schools that have been asked to do so. Besides this state, HC also ordered not to restrict any students from attending online classes until August 15, 2020.

The court also directed that the dues payable by the students until July 31, 2020, shall be cleared to an extent of 80% by the same date. 

The hearing was conducted as part of a plea filed by a parent and some schools concerned. The petitioner stated that state 112 schools are demanding regular fees, despite the fact that the schools are not functioning from the past 4 months.

The online classes have been adopted by the majority of schools, since the lockdown was imposed in March 2020. The state teachers are conducting online classes through different mediums like Google Meets, Zoom, etc. Besides this, the state also initiated classes through TV channels and radio channels.
