CBSE informed the Supreme Court that all the remaining examinations that were previously scheduled to be held on July 1 stand Cancelled.
Following the same footsteps Council for the Indian Schools Certificate Examination, (CISCE) has also decided to cancel and follow the same procedure of evaluation and assessment.
Solicitor General, CBSE, on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that states namely Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Maharashtra have expressed their inability to conduct any major board examinations at this juncture.
CBSE has now come up with a unique assessment method for Class 12 students that allows them to choose between exams or availing internal assessment marks. All the dates for which have to be finalised considering these do not clash with college or university admission dates.
The board has also reported to the Supreme Court stating that all remaining papers rescheduled for July 1-15 will only be held if conditions turn conducive.
Earlier, CBSE had only conducted Class 10 Board exams for North-East Delhi which are all cancelled now.
The Supreme Court was hearing a plea filed by parents which sought a stay on all the board exam papers that are scheduled to be held in July.
Further, in this context, the Supreme Court asked CBSE of its future plannings on conducting exams on a later date or the marks will be provided based on internal assessment.
Hence, SC asked for clarity from CBSE on 25th June 2020 whether it will conduct exams or provide marks on internal assessment.
Earlier, on June 17, the top court also asked CBSE to defer all remaining papers of Classes 10 and 12 and instead grant marks on internal assessment.
The advocate of the petitioners also informed the Supreme Court that there are several entrance exams delayed or yet to be held by the board. The Supreme Court had to provide a final verdict on JEE Mains on NEET exams today.
However, the Court found it more important to deal one matter at a time, board exams being the foremost concern.
