The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has decided to reduce the amount of syllabus that students will have to cover for the upcoming academic year including ICSE Board 2021 as well as ISC Board 2021 by roughly 25% due to the short academic year and significant lack of the teaching and instructional hours owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the official notice released by the Board, although a number of CISCE affiliated schools have tried to adapt to this changed scenario and have tried to continue with the teaching-learning process via online classes, there has been a significant shortening of the academic year and loss of the instructional hours
According to the statement, CISCE worked with its subject experts to reduce the syllabi for all major subjects at the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) levels including Class IX and Class XI as well to compensate for the loss in instructional hours during the current academic session of 2020-2021.
The council also stated the reduction in the syllabus has been done considering the linear progression across classes while ensuring that the core concepts related to the subject are retained.
The scheme implies that the Board is to assess the candidates based on three parameters ie., best of three marks, percentage subject project work, and subject project.
An average of the best three percentage marks obtained from among the subjects for which ICSE board exams 2020 and ISC Board Exams 2020 were conducted will be given to the students of Class 10 and 12.
