COVID-19: Top Colleges in Kochi Conduct Admission Process Online

As the pandemic hit hard the social life, city-based colleges in Kochi are conducting admission process entirely online.

All stages of admission including submitting applications and documents, fee payment, interviews, etc are held in online mode.

Unlike in past years, most of the colleges are avoiding one-to-one interviews. Few colleges have even held webinars to educate students and their parents about online admissions.

The entire admission process is shifted to online mode as colleges are targeting at commencing classes from the last week of September.

Maharaja’s College, Ernakulum has already closed application process, and release of provisional selection list based on merit is underway.

PK Ravindran, Chairman of Governing Council, Maharaja’s College said, “Provisionally selected students are asked to upload soft copies of the relevant document in their respective student portal.

Once the final list of admitted students is published, they will have to come to the college to submit the original documents. This will be conducted in small groups due to Covid-19 restrictions.”

According to Fr Prashant Palakkapilli, Principal of Sacred Heart College, Thevara, online admissions made the entire process hassle-free and less time-consuming. 

Of late, St. Albert’s College, Ernakulum has also updated its official website to meet the needs of the online admission process.

MC Sabu, Faculty and member of Admission Committee of the college said, “The list of provisionally admitted students is published in accordance with general, reservation, community and management quota allocation. 

The provisionally admitted students have the option to accept or decline his admission chance in the website.”
