What Do the Opening and Closing Ranks Mean?
The opening rank refers to the best or highest-ranked candidate admitted to a particular college, branch and category during Round 2. The closing rank is the rank of the last candidate allotted a seat in that college, branch and category.
Together, the opening and closing ranks indicate the seat allotment range for DCECE 2026 Round 2 counselling.
Candidates whose ranks fall beyond the applicable closing rank were generally not allotted a seat in that particular college or branch during Round 2. However, they may still become eligible in subsequent counselling rounds if seats remain vacant or cutoff ranks move further.
