DoE Approves Projects for 'Vision 2030'; Tentative Timelines Set

The Directorate of Education on August 20, 2020 approved the projects for implementation of 'Vision 2030' and the tentative timelines have been set for the same.

'Vision 2030' is a part of Aam Aadmi Party's strategy to uplift public education in the national capital, said an advisor from Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia's office.

The projects shortlisted for DoE under the 'Vision 2030' project are - Creation of at least one School of Excellence (SoE) in each district, including foreign language in the government schools curriculum, exchange programs for students, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding.

The SoE branch has to identify the existing school buildings where a room can be set up and has been asked by DoE to compose a proposal to declare these institutes as Schools of Excellence latest by September 15, 2020. After which the introduction of foreign language and Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya (RPVVs) has to be formulated by December 31, 2020.

Upcoming Changes under 'Vision 2030'

  • Integrated digital devices and the availability of laptops in all the classrooms.
  • Smart/ Interactive TVs for primary and nursery students
  •  Conversion of all classes into connected classrooms in a period of 4 years.

As per the order released by DoE, all the government schools will be provided smart cards by September 30, 2020. These smart cards are multipurpose and can be used for utilization of library services, health services, entry in schools, etc.

The Government schools are in favor of the project released and believe that the establishment of SoE is ideal for the removal of stigma related to Government schools, whereas smart cards will help the students to access various government facilities.

DoE said in a statement, "It is decided to develop the CSR portal of DoE to facilitate NGOs and corporates who are willing to support the education system of Delhi Government schools."
