The Mizoram Scholarship is a program that helps the Meritorious and Encourages the Poor and Economically Weaker Students of the Society of any Educational Institution/ University situated in the state of Mizoram. Only those candidates whose family’s economic condition is not well or those who are unwilling to pay their education expenses due to an income less than INR 2,00,000 to INR 2,50,000 can apply for such scholarship schemes. A total of 17 Scholarships are offered by the Mizoram Government, a list of which will be discussed further.

Any interested students applying for the State Scholarship are required to read and identify the criteria under which they fall in order to fill the appropriate application form. The students from Mizoram and those who live outside Mizoram are also eligible to apply for the scholarship provided the institution is within the jurisdiction of Mizoram. The candidates should download the scholarship application forms in a PDF file and continue with the application process.

For students inside Mizoram

All the applicants who are belonging to and living in Mizoram State are required to have 2 PDF copies printed after filling application form in offline mode. The applicants are required to send one hard copy to their respective college or school along with all documents uploaded on the portal for verification, while the other printed copy can be retained by themselves as a future reference.

For students outside Mizoram

The applicants who don’t belong to Mizoram State are required to use the fee receipt or the Institution Verification Certificate for applying to the scholarships for the new Academic year i.e., 2021.

After filling the application form, all the applicants must print a PDF copy of the application form and send it to the Secretary, Mizoram Scholarship Board, Aizawl Mizoram through Speed Post immediately, along with all the documents uploaded in the Portal for verification, failing which application will not be processed.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students having Parents engaged in cleaning & prone to health hazards The scholarship will be allowable to the wards of Indian Nationals who, independent of their religion has a place with one of the following classes:
  • Persons who are Manual Scavengers as characterized under section 2(I) (g) of Manual Scavengers Act 2013;
  • Tanners and Flayers;
  • Persons occupied with hazardous cleaning as characterized in area 2(l) (d) of Manual Scavengers Act 2013.
The eligible applicants will have to submit a certificate from the District Social Welfare official, a distinguished officer of the Local body, Civic Agency, or any such authority as assigned by the State Government.
Post Matric Merit Scholarship The scholarship will be allowable to the wards of Indian Nationals who, independent of their religion has a place with one of the following classes:
  • Persons who are Manual Scavengers as characterized under section 2(I) (g) of Manual Scavengers Act 2013;
  • Tanners and Flayers;
  • Persons occupied with hazardous cleaning as characterized in area 2(l) (d) of Manual Scavengers Act 2013.

Scholarship for eligible Cadets of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun
  • The scholarship will be permissible to Mizo students permanently living in the Mizoram state and studying at RIMC, Dehradun.
  • A student ought not to be covered under any other Scholarship scheme.
  • Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year and renewable according to Rules/ Conditions.
  • If after receiving the scholarship, the cadet is found medically unfit in any way, as indicated by the appropriate medical authority, the authority renders him unfit for his entrance into the NDA and the scholarship awarded will be discontinued from the date on which the cadet is declared unfit.

Scholarship for Cadets of Sainik School Imphal
  • The scholarship will be permissible to Mizo students permanently living in the Mizoram state and studying at Sainik School, Imphal.
  • A student ought not to be covered under any other Scholarship scheme.
  • Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year and renewable according to Rules/Conditions.
  • If after receiving the scholarship, the cadet is found medically unfit in any way, as indicated by the appropriate medical authority, the authority renders him unfit for his entrance into the NDA and the scholarship awarded will be discontinued from the date on which the cadet is declared unfit.

Scholarship for the Cadets of Sainik School Chhingchhip
  • The candidate must belong to Mizoram State only.
  • A student ought not to be covered under any other Scholarship scheme.
  • The overall income of the student’s parents shall not exceed INR 1,00,000 per month for ST/SC and INR 50,000 for the general category.
  • Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year and renewable according to Rules/Conditions.
  • If after receiving the scholarship, the cadet is found medically unfit in any way which as indicated by the appropriate medical authority, renders him unfit for his entrance into the NDA, the scholarship awarded will be discontinued from the date the cadet is declared unfit.

Mizoram Research Fellowship
  • Only the Candidates or works of bonafide permanent residents of Mizoram will be qualified
  • No Candidate prosecuting higher studies or research in any University or foundation which isn't perceived or set up by law will be qualified for the honor of Fellowship
  • No student found guilty of misconduct or break of discipline or participating in strikes, demonstrations, picketing, and so forth for unreasonable requests from any general authority will be qualified for the grant of scholarship
  • No candidate who fails to score at least 50% of marks on an average in the last College Examination will be qualified for the scholarship, unless otherwise relaxed by the awarding authority.
  • An individual in receipt of any scholar or stipend except merit scholarship, from any sources, will not be eligible for the grant of scholarship.

How to apply for Mizoram State Scholarship

The application form for the State Scholarship is released in the month of July- September online in Mizoram Scholarship Board Portal.

  • Visit the official website of the Mizoram Scholarship Board Portal.
  • Select the “Scholarship Application Forms” button from the navigation bar.
  • Download the Scholarship Application Form that the candidates find suitable.
  • Fill the form downloaded with all the valid details and attach documents found relevant.
  • Send it to the appropriate authorities as and when needed.
