Higher Education Digital Library Launched At UP For Free Of Cost

The authorities of Uttar Pradesh have launched a higher education digital library which helps students to access the lectures and study materials free of cost.

Access will be provided to all the students who have enrolled in any higher education institution all over the state and country. Over 61,500 people have already visited the portal.

They will be able to access all the rich collections of audio, video lectures, and study materials prepared by experts for free of cost.

35,000 e-content materials on 134 subjects were already uploaded in the digital library which was prepared by around 1,700 teachers from 23 state universities.

The Deputy Chief Minister and the State's Minister for Secondary and Higher education, Dinesh Sharma stated that in higher education, the digital library is a unique initiative.

"Now the students can access the study material created by experts from anywhere and anytime and hence education will not be confined to the boundaries of campus and time", Dinesh Sharma said.

This initiative is to benefit the students who could not afford expensive journals and books for studies and research.

The students will have access to study materials in both Hindi and English prepared by the best teachers of state universities free of cost.

Monika S. Garg, additional chief secretary stated that in the pandemic times like these, a digital library is a boon to students.

Students could study and download the subject wise content available at the digital library for free. 

Various content was available for subjects such as science, law, management, social science, engineering, agriculture, and foreign languages.

The department launched the portal for uploading study materials for higher education on September 5, 2020.

Hence September and October are observed as 'Vidyadan Maah' with the aim to make sure the e-content, online lectures, and study materials are easily available to students.

With the help of officials at the National informatics Center, the digital library becomes possible in less time, said Monika.
