New Delhi: With the increase of Coronavirus cases in India, CA aspirants are pleading to postpone the CA exams for one more month. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is set to conduct the exams in the month of November.
Exams were supposed to be held in the month of June, but the outbreak of Pandemic affected the schedule. On 8 September 2020, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India announced the Re-opening of Online Form fill up for the Examinations for Chartered Accountants 2020 to be held in the first week of November.
In order to make it easy for the students to attend the ICAI 2020 exams, there has been an increase in the number of exam cities across the country. All the exam centres and the students have to follow the guidelines of Social Distancing in all places.
CA candidates were allowed to fill the application forms from September 9-11 2020. They were required to pay the late registration fee of INR 600. ICAI decided to took this decision in the interest of the students to mitigate the hardships and anxiety of the students concerned.
Students have been expressing their resentment through social media to postpone the ICAI 2020 exams from November 2020. Further through social media, they are suggesting to conduct Online exams because in this situation ICAI 2020 exams stand a risk to their families.
One of the social media posts said, “Dear ICAI, Kindly address the students’ concerns on November exams. Many people are affected with COVID including our CA aspirants. It is a humble request to postpone the exams for another month. Please consider the lives of CA students and their families.”
Despite this, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on 30 August 2020 released a notification stating that candidates who have registered for the CA intermediate courses via direct entry route admission will be given relaxation to appear for the examination in May next year. According to the guidelines issued earlier by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Registration Period validity was extended because May 2020 examinations were cancelled and combined with November 2020 examinations.
Moreover, as per the new official notice, now, the candidates will be permitted one-year validity for all CA course levels.
Meanwhile, students have expressed opinion over social media as “Don’t postpone exams but give us surety of our loved ones we did not sign up for govt exams for a reason @theicai we signed up for better management please look at a way out I request you lets not delay our future but let's not play with our lives,” a student said.
Students have even sought the help of Subramanium Swamy, the MP of Rajya Sabha to get the ICAI 2020 Exams postponed. However, ICAI 2020 is scheduled to commence from 1 November 2020 in the interest to mitigate anxiety and hardships of the students concerned.
