The Insitute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) issued a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to CA Exams 2020 for the months of May or November.

Candidates can download the entire set of FAQs from the official website of ICAI.

ICAI has provided 17 relevant FAQs for instructions related to exam form-fillup, fees to be paid and exam centres that can be availed.

Will May 2020 exam applicants have to freshly fill exam forms for November?

Yes, students have to fill forms freshly as they have the same application window. Students will be able to change exam centres and groups.

Can students who applied for May 2020 select a different group or both groups in Nov-2020 exams?

As students have to fill forms freshly, both groups can be selected simultaneously or change the group from the one selected in May 2020. In that case, differential fees have to be paid.

Will exam fees for May 2020 be adjusted/refunded/students have to again make the full payment?

After entering details in November 2020 exam form, students will get fee autocalculation. In case, students opt for single group as in May 2020 form, then no additional fee is required. If students opt for two groups, then they have to pay differential fees.

Can students change exam centres from the ones chosen in May 2020?

Yes, applicants can opt for exam centre of their choice.

Can Students apply for group II Old Course and Group II new course together in November 2020?

No, students are not permitted to apply for both old and new courses together. They can choose either one of them.

Can students who failed to fill exemptions in May 2020, claim them in November 2020 exams?

As all exemptions of May 2020 will be carried forward to November 2020 exams, students can claim them.

Which is the last attempt for the intermediate old course?

The last attempt will be in November 2020.

Which will be the last attempt for Final Old Course?

The last attempt will be May 2021 examinations.

Can students who cleared a group in old scheme shift to new scheme?

Yes, students can convert into New scheme for finals before filling forms. The applicant has to appear in balance group not cleared in the old scheme.

Amid COVID-19 pandemic as travelling long distances is a big challenge, will new centres be provided at district or state level where there no exam centres now?

To reduce hardships of students and to ensure their safety, ICAI has set up 193 exam centres including one overseas. Students can refer to the August 4, 2020 announcement for details on exam centres.

Will new exam centres be cancelled in case only a few candidates turn up for that centre?

No, ICAI will not cancel any exam centre.

Can students change language medium for November 2020 forms?

Yes, medium of language can be changed.

Can students change exam centres after 1 month of filling forms if pandemic situation changes in the location changes?

Yes, exam centres can be changed, from the correction window to be open from the first week of October.

For students whose last attempt ends May 2021, but has 2 papers for IPCE second group in November 2020, how can they appear in May 2021 exams when the results for November 2020 exams will be declared in January/February 2021?

After passing both groups of IPCE, students have to register for the final course and then for the final examination.

Are the exams going to be held in November/ December?

Exams will be held in November 2020 including May 2020 exams.

Can Final New Course applicants change electives for November 2020 exams?

Yes, students can change paper-6 elective papers for November 2020 exams.

As May 2020 exams are cancelled, the passing year will be May 2020 or November 2020?

As May exam are merged with November 2020 exams, the passing month and year will be November 2020.
