ICSE 2021: Council seeks Feedback on Online Teaching-Learning; Board Exams to be Planned Accordingly

November 09, 2020: Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has distributed a questionnaire with ICSE affiliated schools in Kolkata in order to receive feedback from teachers regarding covering the syllabus through online classes.

According to the reports, ICSE Board has sent questionnaires sent to schools. Board has asked faculty members along with teachers to fill out the questions and send the report back to the exam for further evaluation until or before November 11, 2020.

ICSE Sends Questionnaires to Affiliated Schools in Kolkata

ICSE Board has asked affiliated schools of Kolkata to list down the difficulty faced during the conduction of classes and assessments conducted in March through online means.

It is to be expected that ICSE along with ISC will plan the ICSE Board Exam 2021 questions and exam pattern on the basis of feedback given by teachers and faculty members of schools.

Earlier, the board sent a questionnaire to schools asking for feedback on different education aspects in July 2020. The updated feedback form has been sent in November to get detailed information regarding the education system and difficulty faced during online classes.

Gerry Arathoon Expects Honest Answers on Progress of Online Teaching-Learning

As per ICSE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon’s statement, schools have been asked to answer the questions listed in the feedback form in an honest manner.

The questions cover aspects of online teaching, covering reduced syllabus, assessment processor, and evaluation of examination done in affiliated schools of Kolkata.

CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon said, "With the majority of the present academic session work having been done, it is imperative for the Council to have clarity on the same.

He further added, “This is particularly important as we have started preparing for the 2021 board examinations. Therefore, once again, the CISCE has designed a questionnaire to be filled in by the school heads who will be presenting candidates in the ICSE and ISC examinations."

CISCE questionnaire to provide updates on syllabus coverage

The main concern of the CISCE questionnaire is to get an update regarding the syllabus coverage by the schools. School authorities have been also asked for details regarding the assessments and examinations conducted.

Along with teachers’ feedback, principals have also been asked to write their comments and details regarding the commencement of theoretical, practical, and online classes, with syllabus coverage by the educational institute.

Referring to the questionnaire sent by the board, Principal of Julien Day School of Kolkata, Bobby Baxter said, "The Council is devising several plans that can be put in place as the pandemic situation evolves. They need to understand and keep strategies ready for various scenarios that may come up next year. According to the situation, these plans will be executed."

The principal further added, "The Council has sought the replies to have a better understanding of the teaching-learning method followed by schools in various regions of the country,".
