• If you stay in India, you’ll probably pursue an MBA, UPSC, or IT.
• If you aim to go abroad for research or an MS, keep in mind that no research or corporate job is possible without a taste of Computer Science.

The good news is that by choosing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Power and Automation at IIT Delhi, you can easily transition into CS after your B.Tech and prepare for an MS abroad. Electrical Engineering at IIT is quite flexible and offers a wide variety of courses that touch on many aspects of modern engineering, including Electronics, Computer Science, and Modern Physics. Additionally, IIT Delhi is situated in the heart of Delhi (specifically South Delhi) and is conveniently close to the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theatres, and bars to enjoy during weekends.

In contrast, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus.

Also, while I usually don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, you can rely on them when they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.

• But remember, there's no such thing as a free lunch. You need to put in the effort to seize these opportunities. If you're not ready to study hard after getting into IIT, these prospects won't mean much.
• On the flip side, if you have a genuine passion for Chemical Engineering, opting for IIT Delhi makes sense. The placements for Chemical students are excellent, but again, hard work is essential here too.
• If you're considering entrepreneurship, UPSC CSE, CAT, etc., then IIT Delhi is the way to go.

After four years, if you still want to enter core electrical or software companies (most B.Tech graduates end up in analyst, consulting, finance, etc.), you’ll have ample opportunities. Trust me, you won’t regret this choice!

The same branches at IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur are about 1500–2000 Advanced ranks apart. If you’re getting a department you’re happy with at Delhi, definitely go for it! The top 3 IITs provide an unmatched environment and opportunities that no other institute can offer.

• IIT Delhi's campus is not as polluted as the city of Delhi, and once you’re there, you won’t notice much of a difference.
• However, do consider your health. If you have any breathing issues, IIT Kharagpur might be the better choice for you.
