On Tuesday, The Karnataka Government has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue guidelines for the MBBS Final Year students for COVID duties to gain sufficient trained manpower.
The Education Minister of Karnataka, K.Sudhakar after the completion of the video conference said that the government has requested the centre to arrange some roadmap to utilize the MBBS final students to build adequate supply of trained manpower.

In the conference it has also been asked to increase the MBBS seats by 2000 and graduates by 10,000.
In the meeting, PM Narendra Modi has suggested the state to aim for reducing the fatality rate by 1% and has instructed them to boost the contact tracing upto 70% to fight the COVID in a better way.

The video conference had the Education Minister K.Sudhakar and Deputy CM C.N Aswath Narayan in the absence of the CM of Karnataka who is into self-quarantine after a week’s hospitalization recovering COVID.
PM Modi has also stressed on the process to trace the infected people within 72 hours.

Karnataka registered 4,267 new Covid cases on Monday taking the overall cases to 1.82 Lakhs.
