Karnataka UG and PG Intermediate Students To be Promoted On Internal Assessment and Previous Year Marks

The Karnataka Government has decided to promote all the intermediate semester students on the basis of internal assessments and previous semester exams. The examinations for the final semester students will be conducted before September end.

As per the reports, intermediate students will be assessed on the basis of a comprehensive evaluation scheme with 50:50 consideration of internal assessment and previous semester marks.

Whereas for the students in the first semester, the evaluation will be entirely done on the basis of internal assessment.

The authorities will be conducting final semester examinations in the online or offline or blended mode.

 The Higher Education Minister, CN Ashwath Narayan said, "If students want to improve their scores, provisions will be made for them to appear in examinations in the next semester and the students who fail in the comprehensive evaluation shall also have to appear in the examinations in the next semester. Backlog subjects will be carried over as well"

He further added, "Academic evaluation forms the core of the higher education system and hence academic performance of students need to be considered. Companies while hiring also assesses student's academic excellence and grades secured by them. If exams will not be conducted now, it will be dangerous to the future of students."

He also said that all universities have been informed to hold the final semester examinations and make suitable arrangements for them. 

The online classes for the new academic year 2020-21 will commence from September 1, 2020, whereas offline classes are expected to start from October 1, 2020.
