Kerala has become the first Indian state to make public education completely digital. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinrai Vijayan informed that the project was implemented under Public Education Protection Campaign through video conferencing.
Kerala has now become a role-model for most of the states in India on how development projects are implemented that is good for the public. Under this project, all government schools in Kerala have become fully digital.

A total of Rs. 793.5 crore was allocated to KITE i.e. Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education however, this project was completed in Rs. 595 crore. 12,678 government schools have connected to high speed broadband internet connectivity.
All the government schools in the state is fully equipped with following equipments
- 3,74,274 IT equipments,
- 1,19,055 laptops,
- 69,944 multimedia projectors,
- 1,00,473 USB Speakers,
- 23,098 projector screens,
- 43,250 mounting kits,
- 4,578 DSLR cameras,
- 4,545 LED TVs,
- 4,729 full HD webcams, and
- 4,611 multi-functional printers.
All the equipment that has been provided comes with a warranty of 5 years and there is a web-portal and call centre in case of any query or complaint said CEO of KITE, K.Anvar Sadath. In addition to that all equipment comes with insurance coverage, which is one of a kind.

Smart learning which is enabled by Information and Communications Technology would ensure a proper learning standard in those schools. Hi-Tech Classes and IT labs will provide a global learning experience for students as well as teachers.
It was launched on June 1, 2020 to counter the discrepancy caused by Covid-19 outbreak. It has completed more than 2,650 classes since its launch.
The Chief Minister praised the contribution of elected representatives, local bodies, teachers, parents and former students to make this project successful.
