The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced the state public education sector to be fully digital. With this declaration, Kerala has become the first state in the nation to establish high-tech classrooms in every Public state school.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister said, "This is the achievement of our State which benefits the next generation. LDF government has led the mission. Four missions have announced to rejuvenate public education. All missions were under local body governments. Even though the State has a better public education system, it could not develop timely.”

He revealed that in the last five years, five lakh students enrolled in government schools. There is a shift in people's attitudes towards the public education system. The state government aimed to improve and equip public schools in academic and other fields with state of the art facilities.
“A school in our village should have the same standards as the best school in any part of the world,” he further added.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that schools would be Re-opened at the appropriate time after reviewing the situation. However, Quality education should be available to all during this time.
On the other hand, schools cannot reopen now. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, it is not safe for students to attend schools physically.
As per an official release, public education rejuvenation missions had been put into effect in Kerala under the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission.
The official release also stated, "Over 3.74 lakh digital equipment were distributed in 16,027 schools for the smart classroom project. In the first phase, 45,000 high-tech classrooms for classes 8 to 12 were readied in 4,752 government and aided high schools and higher secondary schools. We launched the project on January 21, 2018. High-tech labs were started in 11,275 primary and upper primary schools for classes 1 to 7. The program was started on July 5, 2019."
Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) implemented the high-tech classroom project along with financial support from Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KIIFB). Besides, for setting up the classrooms, MP and MLA funds, local self-government institutions fund were also further availed.
