After the state government of Madhya Pradesh announced general promotions for college students, they are now facing demands for a fee refund. The examination fee varies from 500 INR to 3,000 INR for higher and technical courses.
A student said, “Even for undergraduate engineering courses, a student needs to deposit around 1,400 INR as an exam fee. Government should make an arrangement to return the exam fee as there is no exam.”
Another student said that a lot of students manage to procure the fees after a great deal of struggle. They could use the refunded fees for another examination.
According to the announcement, the final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students will be considered to have graduated on the basis of the highest score they obtained in the previous examinations. Those who wish to improve their score can opt for an offline examination later. Further guidelines will be issued in two days.
There are 1.77 million students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the current academic session who were due to take their examinations.
Undergraduate students in the first year and second year, and postgraduate students in the second semester will be promoted on the basis of marks obtained in the last year or semester.
