Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyarion said on June 28, 2020 that the higher education institutions should think of adopting new online tools for teaching and learning.
He also mentioned IIT Bombay who has decided to conduct the classes online following the COVID-19 outbreak. Governor called for a holistic view to see if the new technology is foolproof, practicable, and harmonious.
Koshyarion also spoke about a webinar 'New Age Tools for Teaching Online' organised by Academisthan, a platform for teaching faculty serving in higher education institutions.
He also said that new technology can be used for conducting exams as well, as students will not be happy being passed without writing the examinations. Adding to this he expressed that thought can be given to provide computers to the students who cannot possess them for writing the examinations.
Deepak Kumar Mukadam, Founder of Academisthan and Chancellor nominee on the Management Council of the University of Mumbai, stated in the meeting that more than 6,000 teachers had registered themselves for the three-day webinar.
The event was also attended by the VC of the University of Mumbai Suhas Pednekar, VC of SNDT Women's University Shashikala Wanjari, and VCs of other universities in Maharashtra.
