MBBS: Exams Compulsory For Medical Students At All Levels; No Promotion Strategy To be Followed

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has announced that no medical student will be promoted on the basis of internal assessment. Students will have to appear for examinations, in order to be promoted to the next level.

The conduction of examination is compulsory for both intermediate and final year students. Besides this, the MCI has also directed the medical colleges to complete the MBBS syllabus including demonstrations and practicals, within 2 months of reopening of the colleges. After syllabus completion, the MBBS exam has to be conducted within a month's time frame.

So far, all the educational institutions are to remain closed until the government releases an official notification. The medical colleges also have to hold the supplementary examinations for final year MBBS students, on MCI orders. 

The final year MBBS exams are on the top priority list, as the students have to further pursue internships. MCI has also advised not to wait for colleges to reopen for supplementary exams and conduct them on priority.
