Mizoram Conducted Remaining Class 12 Board Examinations Adhering to the Guidelines

The pending examinations of Class 12 students of the Mizoram School Board of Education took place in the state on Wednesday, with the necessary social distances and other safety protocols, officials said.

The examinations, which were suspended in March due to the coronavirus lockdown, were carried out from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in 79 centres across the state at the same time as the Class 10 board compartmental examinations, which were carried out in 11 centres, an official of the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) told PTI.

Altogether 7,026 Class 12 students enrolled in Economics, Sociology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Home Science, adding that 143 candidates enrolled in Class 10 compartmental exams.

According to the board routine, the Sociology Exam will be held on Thursday and the Computer Science and Home Science Exam on Friday. Approximately 4,939 of the total registered students of Class 12 took part in the Economics and Chemistry exams on Wednesday, the official said.

He said that 2,662 students will take part in the Economics Test, 2,277 Chemistry, 1,641 Sociology, 184 Computer Science and 262 Home Science. Students were screened and advised to wash their hands before entering the examination halls. Sitting arrangements have been made in such a way as to ensure social distance, he said. Earlier, the State Department of Education decided to open schools on July 16, 2020.

However, the guidelines for partial lock-up in the state issued on Tuesday from July 1 – 31, 2020 prohibited the opening of educational and training institutions until July 31, 2020.
