Madhya Pradesh High Court has passed a transitional judgment that private schools are liable to charge only the tuition fees from enrolled students till the COVID-19 pandemic is over. As classes are held online and physical activities are halted therefore no private school can collect additional fees apart from tuition fees till the school finally reopens.
The high court has also passed an interim judgment stating that there will be no waiver in tuition fees for the academic year 2020-21 while hearing the Public interest litigation (PIL).

PIL was filed demanding increment of school fees from next academic year taking into consideration the economic breakdown led by COVID-19 pandemic on private institutions.
However, the court also made clear that parents have to pay the respective tuition fees to continue their ward education in respective private institutes. But fees will not cover any computer charges, extracurricular fees, or any laboratory charges.

High court judgment ensured that no private institute harassed any student in the name of autarchic fees increment. The high court bench also clarified that private institutes need to continue paying salaries to their teaching staff as well as non-teaching staff.No one must be deprived of their fundamental right to receive a salary.
Chief Justice, Sanjay Yadav bench hearing on PIL also advised private institutions to adopt the digital facilities developed by the government of India for quality online teaching.
