MUHS Postpones Medical and Dental Courses Exams Again, Read Why

A week after the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) announced that the examinations for all medical and dental courses would take place between July and August 2020, another circular was released late on Tuesday i.e.  June 23, 2020 stating that the examinations would be postponed until further notice.

Authorities at MUHS pointed out how the decision was taken because of the status of Covid-19 cases in the state.

"The decision on the examinations remained suspended until we heard from the state authorities about the status of Covid-19. Students and colleges will be informed of the same, "said the circular.

Earlier this month, medical and dental students asked MUHS to cancel the exams, especially as many students are already engaged in Covid-19 related work in several hospitals across the state.

After the authorities refused to accept their request, the students requested an extension of the inr 5 Lakh Covid-19 insurance to appear for examinations.

MUHS had agreed to take this matter with the state government, but has not yet responded to it.

Last week, the university announced that the exams will be held, but students will be able to choose an exam center closer to home, as many students are not back at their institutes.

While students and parents are pleased with the news of the postponement, many have demanded that the examinations be cancelled.

"These students risk their own lives and that of their family members by working on the relief work of Covid-19. Now, the state should not insist on an exam.

Since all other university exams have been cancelled, professional courses can also be conducted in the same way, bearing in mind the health and safety of students, "said Anant Sharma, MBBS parent.
