The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has cancelled NIOS class 10 and class 12 examinations.
NIOS released a notification stating- Conduct of March 2020 Secondary and Senior Secondary Public Examinations rescheduled to commence from July 17, 2020 and further postponed, now stand cancelled.

The circular also stated that learners will have an option to appear in the next cycle of examinations (Public or on-demand) as and when the situation becomes favorable. The marks obtained in these examinations shall be treated final.
NIOS Assessment Scheme: Class 10 and Class 12
Besides this, NIOS also released the assessment scheme for NIOS class 10 and class 12, which is as below:
- Students of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance (i.e, passed) in four subjects, the average marks for the best three subjects will be considered for which the learner was registered in the examinations which could not be conducted in March-April 2020.
- Students of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance (i.e, passed) in three subjects, the average marks for the best two subjects will be considered for which the learner was registered in the examinations which could not be conducted in March-April 2020.
- Students of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance in one or two subjects (i.e, passed), the theory marks will be calculated based on the average performance in the theory of last three public examinations in those subjects for which the learner was registered to appear in the examinations which could not be conducted in March-April 2020.
- For first-time NIOS learners, Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) and/or Practical marks are available, their performance will be based on the same. Their performance will be calculated on the last three public examinations in the subject for which the learner had to appear in the MArch-April 2020 NIOS exams.
