Order on School Leaving Certificates amended by Haryana Government

The education department of Haryana Government on Friday modified its previously laid out rule which exempted students from having to obtain school leaving certificates from a private school in order to join a government school. 

The education department has now issued government schools an order suggesting to make sure students coming from private schools have submitted their SLCs before admission was confirmed.

The Haryana director general of school education has also directed the district education officers and district elementary education officers by asking them to give provisional admission to students beforehand. However the admission will be confirmed only after the SLC is submitted. 

This is resultant of a meeting of representatives from various private schools along with Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar on Friday. Private Schools had previously asked for withdrawal of government orders.

 In order to keep in check all the private schools who were reportedly harassing students for recovery of school fee, the government had previously permitted migration of students from private schools to government schools without SLC. The school principals were directed to communicate with private schools.

The SLC was supposed to be issued in case a private school refused to respond to a request of government school principals to provide SLC for children.

This triggered a lot of responses among school managements. They said that they support this decision by the government.. This has now given a lot of hope to all budget schools who had lost students as well as their revenues.

So far just 50% parents in villages have cleared the school fee arrears of last session. In rural belts, schools get fee only after the crop is sold. Not more than 15% parents have paid money for this year. All schools are on the verge of bankruptcy now due to monthly expenditure.
